I've just requested an upgrade to the Fibrex 200/20 with homeline, $15 p/m cheaper than my cable 50/2 plan!

Unfortunately not able to avail of both the free Sky Sports for a year AND the 6 months half price unlimited data plan.

Was that for 12 or 24 months? Also did you get one of those discounts. It wasn't clear.

It was 12 months with the free Sky Sports.

Were you currently on contract and did you have the option of 6 months half price unlimited data plan?

Yes - I was currently on contract - he said I wouldn't be able to have both offers, and that I could choose either the 12 month contract with free sky sports or the 24 month contract with 6 months half price data.

I chose the 12 month contract with free sky sports

Thanks.

Interesting... assuming the early break fee is still $199 you would still get slightly more than that with 6 months half price... so that nearly makes the 24 months worth it.  Unless my maths is wrong?

What 0800 number did you call? Is it the main Vodafone number or a separate one for cable? - oops, I mean fibreX ;)

The 0508 888 000 number - my previous contract renewed last month and they were supposed to put me on the free SS, but cocked up and had put me on the Soho offer, so phoned up initially as a billing inquiry, then I asked about the FibreX upgrade, so they put me through to the Customer Retention team.

Break fee only applies to severing ties with VF..you can still change plans up or down and not pay break fee.

However, if that "C" word comes back I will be breaking contract and I would wish VF well in getting the break fee from me.  "C" = congestion.

Don't you dare say that word!

Has anyone actually got fibreX 200 yet? What speeds are you seeing?

gingereejit made the right choice. If free Sky Sports is relinquished then the loss is about $30 a month - $29.90 to be precise - so that costs $360 for the year without any break fee. Much more than would be saved on half-price broadband for 6 months.

Yeah - except I get my TV from Sky not VF and movies and sport are already free... no I have little option other than the half price.

I have a record of my first phone call on Wednesday evening, second one Thursday evening (CSR who couldn't find an order from Wednesday did confirm the 3 days would run from Wednesday.)
No call from Dowers yet. Thursday = 1 day, Friday = 2 day, Monday = 3 day, Tuesday = $100 pay day. We shall see.

Other than telling the bot which tells you your phone call is being recorded for training/cover their ass, are we obliged to tell the actual person. They know it's being recorded at their end. You're just making your own copy.

A couple or years ago I changed my services.  At the time the CSR never told me about any change to or extension of the contract.  I later found out one had been created but I rang and told them I was never told.  They checked the recording to confirm I was right and honoured that.  I was actually pretty impressed. I was only able to tell them what day the call was on.

Had a lady ring me back this morning, had a feeling she was from the retention team also.

Took the option of free sky sport for 12 months which comes with a 12 month contract, she said they couldn't mix promos unfortunately so couldn't give me the 6 months half price but she calculated the free sky sport was a better offer money wise.
