Apsattv:
I havn't tried it but you might be able to run the Vodafone app in a PC android emulator, then drag the screen to your second display?
What do you mean "run the Vodafone app"? I don't think you can watch live TV or recording on the Vodafone TV app.

"You can also use your app in the home to watch your TV channels* and recorded shows, on a second screen."

Pretty sure when i tried it last about 6 months ago that certain channels live streamed on my tablet.

Ok, just checked - of all programs on TV right now, only Batman (animated cartoon) on Prime could be live-streamed on the TV app... Why not just use the TVNZ and Three Now apps then?

And @Apsattv, I know this is a discussion that is in response to @OldWolf2 original question about watching on a second screen.

Can't recall any freezing happening the past couple of days, perhaps its fixed?
Looking good for me too in the past couple of days, Stutter is gone..
Hi @JoBudge, it sounds like there is a bug with the activation page when going beyond 4 devices. I'll report it to the testers & developers to check it out and fix it.
It is by design there is no option to mix up freeview and Sky boxes on the same account (I recall it created a lot of complex edge cases). So, yes, to achieve a mixture of Sky & Freeview boxes you will need to set up the freeview boxes on a separate account.
I'll let you know when the tester has confirmed it is a general problem and when the fix will be implemented.

The Vodafone TV app does allow viewing of Live TV, recordings, and 3 day catch up. It also allows you to set up a recording remotely and also to casting from the app to the VTV box when on the same LAN as the box (useful for searching for content using the mobile keyboard, then casting the content found to the big screen).
However, this does all rely on the content provider/channel allowing this: the rights are split by in-home (mobile on the same LAN as the VTV box) vs out-of-home mobile viewing. Much of Sky's content allows out-of-home viewing - the general rule is that if you can watch it on Sky Go, then you can watch it on the VodafoneTV mobile app.

JoBudge: Update. October 2020. The Vodafone Standalone (VFSA) tv box is available from Noel Leeming and The Warehouse. RRP is $179. Prior to October 2020 you could add up to 3 additional boxes as multi room for $25 per month. Since October 2020 you can have a total of 6. I see information here from Sep 2019 @Olaf saying there was currently no multi room available, but it would launch with 6 in 4 weeks. Obviously only did 3. Since the boxes were on sale at Noel Leeming and my 2 trial purchases from August through The Market were working great I returned my 5 skytv boxes and bought more VFSA boxes. Turns out whilst they have updated the webpages and the brichure ti 6 boxes for multiroom, no one in marketing told IT. So I have just spent 52 minutes to log the issue with Vodafone. When you have registered 4 boxes total you cannot generate an activation key from the multi room.page or a y ither page. The button is greyed out on the multi room page. There is no option to activate the box without Sky either. Only workaround I can see if you want several boxes but only some connected to sky is two separate Vodafone TV accounts with two different email addresses.
Wonder how long they will take to get back to me?
.....
Hi @JoBudge, you should be able to do it as we have others able to activate 1+5 multiroom boxes.
The team have asked if you can you DM me your email address that you're having issues with activating the 5th multiroom box. We can then investigate further.
Thanks

Any advice for a Vodafone TV unit unsubscribing to free view channels - Channels 1-4 disappeared from the menu, but I can find them if I go into the setting into content -> show hidden content.
Turn if off/on again not working, and if I hide unsubscribed content, they disappear again, and take a few more with them.

This was discussed many times around this thread. If you go to settings, hide and restore (if you want) the SKY channels you should see these back on the grid.
