It has now been several weeks of extremely low bandwidth on a VF cable 100/10 plan during peak hours..usually 5pmish to 11.30pmish most nights.

Tonights speedtest

Whilst VF have admitted they have a congestion issue all they tell me is that they will advise when a fix is imminent.

I have requested a credit on my account which they seem to agree is warranted, but they wont do this until its fixed and know how much to credit with me with.

I have asked the question if I qualify for a free contract break, but they advise me I need to talk to the "Cancellations team". Not sure how to do this?

What would you guys do in a similar situation?

Try and break contract and go VDSL (non UFB area)?
Wait it out until its fixed?

Something else?

cheers

You've logged a fault but obviously they haven't fixed it to your liking. If you're this unhappy with your connection, you should probably ask what the cancellation fee would be. You're lucky you got a credit though.

I too have had terrible video streaming on cable in Johnsonville. I've had to use my phone data while streaming in bed. It seemed to slow down a few weeks back. For years before that it was perfect all the time. My tracert test is looking a bit funny compared to the last time I tested it too (which was a very long time ago).

I'm on the Vodafone 50/2 cable plan and live in Kapiti. Netflix streaming last night was very poor quality. In theory it should stream at 1080P quality, and it used to do that, but recently I am getting 480P quality. More Vodafone Cable congestion! BBC iPlayer  is also very unreliable these days, with frequent disconnections. Several months back it used to play smoothly, even in HD.
There is definitely a deterioration in cable speed over last couple of months.

I am on the 100/10 unlimited plan and for the last 2-3 weeks have had issues streaming anything internationally. Stuttering with Netflix and Youtube and Pluto TV.

Last night was pretty bad, getting SD on Netflix all night. Run a speed test against the voda site and it's okay but international is horrific.

Tonights speed is (on a 100/10 contract)

I cant quite remember what I got with dialup, but I believe it cost me $10/month not close to $100.

Am now getting zero satisfaction from customer service. They tell me to contact the Cancellations team but have so far refused to give me contact details.

I know its a technical issue with major congestion and requires implementation of some sort of technical  solution...all I really want is to be advised of a time frame.

Your download speed would have been something like 0.56kbps at best, from memory (been a while since I supported dialup).

Maybe John can help here?

Dialup speed would be 56kbps, not 0.56kbps. Basically you would bet about .5% of the speed for 10% of the money. Does not sound particularly economical to me...

Make sure you log an official fault ticket via the phone (note down the fault ticket incident number)

Advise local speed tests to Vodafone NZ test speedtest server are far less than what I am subscribed to,

Yeah I know, tbh this time of the day with young kids, the last thing I need is to sit on hold for 40 minutes! I know I need to do it though, thanks for the prompt 😉

John - sort of off-topic but also on-topic: is anything happening re recruiting enough staff locally to answer the phones (overlooking the outsourcing announcement)?
I understand why you're saying "call and log a fault and get the number". I agree with you, that's the best way to go, but if it was me, I wouldn't want to wait on hold for ages and ages either.

Ok. Finally bit the bullet due to being stuck on 2M download speed and have logged a fault!
