Hi

I have an old motorola surfboard cable modem.. on 40G lightspeed contract with 15mb/2mb speeds..

Is it better to upgrade to newer cable modem?

The 50/2 plan 100% requires the Cisco DPC3008 DOCSIS3.0 cable modem upgrade. This is free of charge.

There's no advantage in upgrading to the DPC3008 from the Motorola SB5101 unless you're moving to a higher speed tier. :)
