I wasnt entirely sure if this was the correct forum but a search for 'paradise email' showed it probably is.

Anyway, over the last couple of days Ive been receiving an unbelievable amount of spam on an old paradise email adddress I have. I havent used it for years (the odd friend still uses it to get to me though no matter how often I tell them to use my gmail account !) but Im getting maybe 20-30 emails a day at the moment, all with the same/similar subject, but all appear to be from different 'accounts'.

Has anyone else seen this ?

Email the friend you have that is odd:

"I have closed my Paradise account, my new address is yournotoddfriend@gmail.com. If you send email to my Paradise address, I will not receive it".

Thus achieving:

The friend that is odd is now going to email you at the correct address.
You don't have to worry about setting up your Paradise account on new devices.
You are not tied to the ISP in any way for your own personal communication.
The spam you are receiving to that account will henceforth obtain stoppage.

Go to www.paradise.net.nz, click on the 'Members' tab, login and click the 'antivirus and spam' link. You may have these disabled.

Cheers, Gary

Don, Ill try that when the next one comes along. Im sure it wont be long.

Tony, Ive tried that more times than I care to remember. He's an old fella, not particularly up with current technological advances and nothing Ive done has worked. I dont really want to cut him off either !

xpd, thats what Im doing which is why Ive seen it all

Gary, its currently set to Spam and Virus, I havent changed anything and havent actually logged into the webmail site for some time.

Unless something has changed from when I worked there (admittedly some years ago) Paradise don't do mail forwarding outside of the Paradise domain.

You can setup your gmail account to pop your paradise account, just like a normal email client, and that way you can still get your emails into gmail.

Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.

Yeah setup gmail fetcher to pull the email in from your paradise account, should filter the junk more effectively than paradise's filtering.

Hi Martyn. I've spoken with the email team and we've not seen an increase in spam. If you can PM me with your account number the guys will have a look at your email account and see if there's anything odd happening there.

Cheers, Gary

Hi all - if you do get spam come through, please email it to missedspam@paradise.net.nz

Please note that the spam must be an attachment or .eml file attachment (just forwarding an email won’t work). Emailing to this address will help update our filters and reduce spam for you and all our customers.

Cheers, Gary

Personally I lost faith in the Paradise spam filter when it couldn't even block the Paradise.net phishing emails... I thought that was quite ironic Laughing

Their email offering is a joke.

Correct me if I'm wrong but.....
No IMAP for Paradise and IMAP for clear only if you pay for mailplus, no SSL/TLS security, can only access their smtp server via port 25 on their network.
