Well, i've done it....I've signed up to Orcon and getting changed over at the end of this month.

I've been with xnet since the early days of the 256k 1GB data plans, even got my first name as my email, kinda like a email you would have if you worked at worldexhange. And changed to xnet fusion when the vfx side was still a little flakey. All good now tho.

Its just a shame that I can save at least $15 a month with orcon. I wish the xnet plans were a little better

Anyways, its been good while it lasted, hope the grass is just as green on the other side.

I thought they were going to do some large marketing drive and release new plans. I know it's been a long time coming but you may have jumped a little too soon.

Having said that though, broadband is almost a commodity items these days so it is a buyers market

They updated their plans a few months ago, I doubt they'll be pushing out any new plans any time soon.

The number of rant posts on Geekzone about Orcon is second only to the number of rant posts about Slingshot.

If you have any problems with Orcon please try not to rant about them.

That said people don't really care about support, they will usually go for the lowest price, and as someone said above, ISP services are now largely a commodity service. You don't need support until you have a problem, and many people never have a problem once it is connected. ALso many people have a family memeber that helps them with IT stuff, that eliminates the need to call the ISP. The most popular and successful ISPs seem to have the most people complaining about them, possibly because more people use them.

Make sure you contact Xnet to confirm that your connection has been moved and that your Xnet account has been cancelled. There have been many stories over the years on here (including from myself) of changing providers and Xnet continuing to bill (which in my case was a nightmare to resolve and ended with me paying for several months of unused connection to end the madness).

Yeah, I'll make sure I check my existing account is scheduled for disconnection, thanks for the advice.

Yes, definitely make sure you do cancel your contract with them,as I think you have to anyway when you cancel a contract with any company.

My sentiment also Bye Bye xnet after 5 yrs, its not the money its the lack of solutions when you have a fault, vfx is gone altogether this morning, forced onto my mobile.

This is not the place for their faultfinding I have better things to do, i just want a phone that goes
Orcon here I come

This is getting OT but I assume this in reference to your other thread about your phone issues with non VFX approved hardware? You chose to use non approved hardware. If you had chosen certified hardware they would have able to support you.

Hey I am supporting xnet with my dollars each month are I not. ? I guess that was worth nothing.

I am fairly positive now this not a hardware issue on my end, vfx line was down completely for about 2hrs this morning. no dial tone just horrible noises, nothing has changed since it originally worked perfectly. The least they could have done was reported a line fault to telecom, its come back on now.

And I am only 1Km from the exchange

We cant all afford $400 modems on someones whim.

This sounds like a hardware fault with your modem/router, not an Xnet problem. If the CPE cannot connect, then you would normally hear nothing at all, or some particular prompt. The horrible noises suggest your equipment may be faulty.

Perhaps try a new modem and see what happens - may I suggest one of the recommended devices if you are not skilled in VoIP.

Also, if you are looking for help to resolve the problem you mentioned in this thread, then you need to provide some more details of exactly what you have done for troubleshooting...
