Finally got it working.

Heres the guide for just setting a trunk up, assuming you have a working Trixbox system already:

Questions welcomed.

Now tidying up the full Trixbox step by step install guide including installation, trunks, routes, extensions etc.

And here is the full step-by-step guide for downloading Trix, softphones, full installation, configuration and everything you need to get from having no Trixbox install, to making a call out, and accepting calls in.

It doesnt include much in the way of inbound or outbound routing, or other trunk options - just enough to get calling working with as little setup as possible. Why dont you read through the trunk and route parts of this guide too?

FYI: I followed the guide to the letter this afternoon, re-building my AMD Duron box, and from first boot, to completed successful calls in and out, took 29 minutes. (AMD 850MHz, 256MB RAM, 32x CDROM, 6GB Seagate HDD).

I'd love to see how fast this could be achieved on a modern server box with high speed hard drives, FSB, DVD etc.

That's the most entertaining + informative beginners guide to anything I've ever read.  Great work Tony!

Tony,

started at about 7:20 and finished about 7:50, with weetbix and toast for 16 mnth Daniel inbetween.  Worked first time.

the reason i couldn't get it working before was slightly embarrasing.  I have been woring on asterisk at home v2.8, as soon as I went to trixbox 2.2 it all just works.

cheers for the write up...i just need to learn to read properly now.

DB
