It has happened x net has blocked access to a new zealand hub(sliverserver)to all of the xnet customers and a website (www.sliverserver.co.nz)....btw  www.sliverserver.co.nz is filtered from international traffic

i have rang the technical help line they have said we have not blocked it , but all the xnet hubsters cannot access that hub or that website no more ...

i want to know why ? or is this a start of a new thing of blocking access to websites/hubs ?

where is the justification of blocking it ? ?

please tell xnet

ps:there nothing wrong with his sever like all the help line guys keep telling me .

How sure are you that there is nothing wrong with this server? Testing the server via http://www.selfseo.com/ping_test.php reports that the server is actually offline!!!

Yet using a Comcast tunnel, the site works fine.

Umm, I get

Additional information

(/) indicates an error that can potentially cause access to services to fail.

(/)No delegation for domain sliverserver.co.nz could be found in the parent domain co.nz.

If the domain isn't registered... you have a bigger problem.

My guess is either its a typo or the domain has expired.

Edit: did you mean silverserver.co.nz ?

Maybe you could try spelling the domain properly? You are probably referring to silverserver.co.nz. Which works fine from an Orcon and an Xnet connection.

If they're blocking all "international" traffic then I suspect their method of doing this is flawed and possibly resulting in valid NZ IP ranges such as those used by WxC from connecting.

So, I am the person who has the server in question.

Basically I followed this up with my host. They denied it was at their end. I then followed up with Xnet, and so did my host. Both came back as Xnet had put a blackhole route onto my servers IP (210.48.72.60). I have since moved some of the subdomains, but www.silverserver.co.nz still points there.

I have a ticket with Xnet to get this resolved, however no one is willing to email me back about it.

I couldn't get a reason out of Xnet, but my host got an explanation. They were told that it was because I was running a DC hub.

The DC hub in question is really just a place for a bunch of old DC users to keep whats left of the community alive and a place to chat. When I first discovered the block placed by Xnet, there were 19 users in there, including me. It's nothing major at all.

All DC hubs have been removed from that server, and after contacting Xnet about it today, they promised someone would email me back based on my ticket number. I haven't heard anything, and the block is still in place.

edit: Oh and as stated above, their is filtering on the box to limit it to NZ traffic. Pinging from an international box / site may make it look like it is down :P

My traceroute goes nowhere

1 1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 192.168.7.254
2 36 ms 34 ms 35 ms ip-58-28-15-31.wxnz.net [58.28.15.31]
3 35 ms 34 ms 34 ms ip-58-28-13-83.wxnz.net [58.28.13.83]

They are not blocking ideas and words, but a file sharing service.

Neither you or I are privy of th reasons why the ISP blocked it. Perhaps they were asked to do it or received an order?

We don't know the whole story so you and I shouldn't provide judgement at this stage.
