I have a Sure Signal which I use for my cell S6 and tablet S2. But on a frequent basis I notice one or both devices has a low signal meaning it's not using the Sure Signal. Why is this?

Are the handsets handing over to 4G is the internet dropping out and the Sure Signal losing connection?

John

Edit: When it happens type into the phone *#0011# and see what service the handset is camping onto

I have an InspireNet VDSL2 connection which is very stable. Though on that topic, I have seen the Sure Signal fall off from time to time though the connection is fine.

But the 4G thing may be a possibility. Vodafone has patchy Band 28 coverage here.

Depending on which model of Sure Signal unit you have got some can only handle 4 connections (in use not idle) at a time so then when you come to make a call or use mobile data you will use the weak signal from the mobile network

What about others around you just not in your house?

We are in a rural township so that is unlikely due to distance to the nearest neighbours (50m+?)

50 Meters is not that far, Next time it happens look at the Sure Signal unit and see if the telephone is lit up

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

My thoughts are we would need at least another 3 devices accessing it to cause an issue and we just don't have that density here.

I have found that during calls, my phone sometimes switches to a cellphone tower, even if I'm right next to the Sure Signal. This results either in the call dropping, or the person on the other end barely being able to hear me.

The only "solution" I have to this is to hide in the centre of the house away from windows, where the phone has no chance of picking up a cellphone tower.

Not sure whether this is an issue with the Sure Signal, phone, or both.

Otherwise, the phone doesn't tend to drop off the Sure Signal while idle, except where a) I'm in a part of the house far from the Sure Signal b) my internet connection is on the fritz or c) the Sure Signal has dropped off its server. Both b and c are pretty rare.

I have a different version of the Sure Signal (v2) and also different phones (iPhones), so may not be directly comparable.

Network Cell Info Lite (http://wilysis.com/networkcellinfo ) will let you see a visual of this too.

And report the PCS ID, of which the sure signal will be single digit, and the tower 3. I also note the 2nd handover ID isn't provided when on the SS compared to a tower.

Since the V3 only appears to do 3.5G (HSPA+ only?), I've adjusted my handset to 3G from' 4G preferred'. Seems to not hand off as much now, presumably as it now can't see a higher rate tower - not that voice is meant to use the same channels as data 0.o

I do infrequently have to toggle flightmode to get it to lock on coming home however

Give that a shot if you have the option and see if it does the same
