So if Spark Wifi calling is indeed imminent, does that mean VF will be doing it too?

Asking for someone with a VF work phone and iffy reception at home (it me).

There has been some suggestion on Geekzone that it is coming, as a replacement for Vodafone's Sure Signal: https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=40&topicid=257294&page_no=2#2324393

It sure would be nice if they could offer it, only getting 1 bar of signal at work

I think the main problem here would be Vodafone's  Achilles' heel: billing...

Would be good if all three providers offered VoWiFi.

I assume Vodafone has the equipment in place already. You have to wonder why they don’t just switch it on. As 2degrees have had it for 3 yrs..

Seems crazy they haven’t already.

What core does Vodafone use? eg. Spark are using an Ericsson voice system from my understanding.

I would like WiFi calling as Vodafone coverage on this side of Johnsonville has always been lacking.

Its great to have, but until they fix the problem with it breaking the mobile part of a mobile phone its not something I will be using unless I specifically need to use the phone and I end up in the odd location where I can borrow some wifi and have no signal. Seems inexcusable to develop a product like this that cant hand a call over between lower layers as you move.

oddly enough, I find the absence of Wifi to cell handover a real pita. It works so well on mobile networks, that you miss voice handover when it’s not there anymore
