Is this an Intel based machine? Have you installed all drivers from the manufacturer? Have you tried running the Intel Driver Update program?

Remote Desktop connection in windows 10 seems a bit flakey.

I get infrequent (fortunately) dropouts where the connection cancels and reconnects in a couple of seconds.

Pretty sure it is a windows 10 issue, not sure if it is a problem in the local or remote machine -- i think, it is the local .

I use RDP to a couple of machines within my home network and haven't seen any problems.

OK, probably something with my setup  --- it only started after installing win10 though .  Nothing gets written to event logs either.

Could be wifi/network and/or win10 combo causing issues. I don't think the wifi drops out though.

I think I have found another minor glitch. When I click on the calendar, I cannot close it with some applications if they are full-screen. With Explorer, I can only close it by clicking on a blank area above the calendar display. With other programs I can only close it by minimising the program to refresh the screen.

Even after two cumulative updates I still see the Settings window flashing sometimes - you open it. click on a section and it briefly closes and reopens.

Why is this still happening? (I know, rhetorical question, no one here is going to really know the answer).

More strangeness on the Task Bar. I suddenly noticed the clock display was a half-hour behind but it was correct on the calendar. Then other things on the Task Bar started behaving oddly. I finally rebooted and now everything is back to normal, at least for the moment. For an OS that had so many preview testers, this sure does seem unfinished.

joker97: not sure to post here or start new thread.

Intel HD4600 graphics driver won't install. locked down by manufacturer.

In win 8.1 I boot into safe mode, uninstall the driver from device manager, install new one from Intel.com

but in win 10 ... I can't uninstall the existing driver!

Weird. Updated some drivers from 8.1 to 10 drivers and now I can update the Intel graphics driver from 8.1 to 10

Im still having graphics driver problems, HTML5 videos not playing. the AMD Autodetect utility says it can't find any, the Catalyst installer says my card is supported (It's a laptop APU btw) but when I install that it only installs the control center and not the driver

All I can get is the windows 8 one, and if nothing happens soon im gonna have to go back to 7 or 8 :(

I am starting to feel bad for those that can't run it well now. Or those for whom the issues are a major.

Having gotten used to the fluidity and the UI, 7 or 8.1 feel clunky now. It's so intuitive, win 10, that its already second nature.

It took me awhile to work around my issues. Activating a bluetooth keyboard in more finnicky than in 8.1 for some reason. Needs more careful timing when initially pairing/connecting. Drivers I needed to mess around with.

Now it works fine, i'd be annoyed if I had an unresolvable issue, primarily because of the UI being so good. Admitedly, a lot of apps and I might want to go classic start. As it is, alphabetical works fine for me.

And it's also a shame there is a mix and match of 8.1/7 components and 10 style interface. I like the continuity, but would be good if the 'style' was kept up.

Honestly, I think Microsoft was right to lose the full menu in 8.0.

Most people hardly use it.

I thought the minimal 8.1 menu was useful.

However, I much prefer to search for rarely used applications in full screen. For me, the w10 menu is a step back.

What Microsoft did get wrong, with win 8, was all edge points on the desktop screen.

I don't think any desktop user wants edge-screen menus popping up - when they they have mouse buttons and keyboard to access that functionality anyway.

Well I think the majority of desktop users would side against you there. In terms of using the start menu.

For search, its on the desktop in 10, not under a menu, just there - tablet or desktop mode. Just as the task menu, or action menu is just there, or the full app list, settings, file explorer. What is missing that was there in 8.1? nothing. It's just more. More immediate single or double click options, closer to the user.

The point of difference, commercially, with Windows, is its 'fullness'. Saying that most people 'hardly use it', is counter to the point - people want access to 'it', whatever 'it' might be, if they want. Otherwise they'd be using apple or android products IMO.

But everyone had their opinion, and fair enough. Actually its rare to meet someone who likes 8.1 so much! Agreed the charms menu side screen activation was a pain for the desktop users (or rather a pointless irritation for the majority who use classic start). Conversely, the action menu, task menu, task bar, full windows bar, in touch mode, in windows 10, is brilliant.

I personally can't get over how great the UI is in 10. So simple, so intuitive, and yet all the options are there. On a tablet, I actually want to use it in tablet mode. I never thought I would be compelled to use anything like metro. As opposed to metro which is horridly limiting, and insulting, a consistent pain in the old backside - the tablet mode has the taskbar if you want it, all the options you can get on desktop mode, even split windows. On desktop, the snap gestures, taskbar, action menu, all also work brilliantly.

And the start menu is great to have there, and whatever the equivilant top left button is in tablet mode (which is like a stripped down start button), for explorer, shutdown, apps. I think when you reach the point of wanting less options for the user, in windows, you are aiming for another market.

What sets windows apart from all the other OS's, is ease of access to basic tweaking, command shell, permissions, file explorer, settings, properties, management, apps with a fuller range of capabilites - stuff that on other OS's is so hidden you might even need a third party app for it, a commandline or at least a bevvy of clicks and options, but for windows users, is not so uncommon. It's there if you want it - that deeper power.

Which is what has convinced me, personally that saving the ecosytem for touch, which should change in future due to the universal system, android etc is redundant. If they can make it easy to use, but yet have all the options at the same, who wouldn't want that?

I've been playing around with my tablet on win 10. It runs beautifully in desktop mode with keyboard and monitor, as a netbook, with a keyboard dock and as a tablet. 3 in 1. That's one ring to bind them all, and that is compelling to me. Maybe I am just techy in that regard, but I love the idea of Windows power, everywhere I go, less devices, less syncing, more options.

Perhaps for someone with less interest in modifications, repairs, software power, other options, another OS would suit them better. Funny, I used to kind of loathe windows. I hated 8.1. Now, listen to me, I am freaking fanboy. lol!
