My daughters 1.5 year old Macbook air is no longer loading OS.

She 'said' she wanted to do a refresh of the OS because it was playing up. She brought it to me and we are stuck.

The procedure we use is to:

Turn on device and hold CMD + R

We select WIFI network password in an attempt to download OS. About 10 mins or so we get the error "-2002F"

I read that the WIFI had to be set to WPA or WPA2 , neither worked.

Has anyone had this issue and resolved it?

If you have access to another Mac, you might find it easier (and quicker) to create a USB installer to perform the restore.

Just download OS X via the App Store on a working Mac, then follow the instructions here:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201372

You'll need to use a USB flash drive (8GB or larger) and be aware that when you create the OS X installer, it will overwrite all existing contents of the USB drive.
