I'm not sure exactly what happened, but may have  "added to library" in itunes 408 aif files from somewhere on my macbook pro.

Any idea where these came from ?

I have removed them from itunes , into a separate folder.

On doing a search for these files, hoping to find duplicates somewhere, the only ones i find are the ones in the new folder I created.

Here are some examples of them.

file:///Users/lc/Desktop/untitled%20folder/2MFNFX1X01.aif
file:///Users/lc/Desktop/untitled%20folder/2MFNFX1X02.aif
file:///Users/lc/Desktop/untitled%20folder/2MFNFX1X03.aif
file:///Users/lc/Desktop/untitled%20folder/2MFNFX1X04.aif
file:///Users/lc/Desktop/untitled%20folder/2MFNFX1X05.aif

file:///Users/lc/Desktop/untitled%20folder/EBFMCO1D3X08.aif
file:///Users/lc/Desktop/untitled%20folder/EBFMCO1E1X01.aif
file:///Users/lc/Desktop/untitled%20folder/EBFMCO1E1X02.aif
file:///Users/lc/Desktop/untitled%20folder/EBFMCO1E1X03.aif
file:///Users/lc/Desktop/untitled%20folder/EBFMCO1E1X04.aif
file:///Users/lc/Desktop/untitled%20folder/EBFMCO1E1X05.aif
file:///Users/lc/Desktop/untitled%20folder/EBFMCO1E1X06.aif

etc

Does any one have ay ideas what I should do ?

thanks in advance

Just type .aif into Spotlight.. it will show you where they all are.

If you have set iTunes to 'Add to Library' you can delete them from the Music library in iTunes if you don't want them in there..

Some Apps add their music to iTunes as .aif files.  OmmWriter being just one.
Best.

Thanks Ashka, I deleted them.

I was fiddling around with itunes and imported them by mistake.

I couldn't find them anywhere else, I would have thought there would have been copies else where.

oh well Laughing

I think you've imported some of the default Garageband samples into your iTunes.
If you look in
/Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Instrument Library/Sampler/Sampler Files/Muted Electric Bass
then you should see files with the same/similar names.

The files in your trash with be the COPY that iTunes made, so the originals should still be in place.

Cheers,
Joseph.

Hey Joseph , you were dead right. When I searched for duplicates, I never found them, but they are there alright. I guess itunes is true to it's word and imports them while leaving copies else where.

Just as well I guess :)

Now to improve my duplicate file searching, well that's another story.

Thanks

Laurie
