In the context of the previous discussion on attacks on civilians, the graph does not differentiate civilian and military. Some number of those deaths will be insurgent attacks on Iraq military rather than civilian for this graph.

Sorry but I don't buy that as a significant factor.
The attacks in Iraq are mainly targeted at civilians.
The body count (2003-10) was 60 civilians for one soldier.

Sounds a bit woolly to be honest.
There are plenty of people who do not feel they belong but by no means do many of them join criminal gangs or cults.
