lchiu7:

This is their list of restrictions

https://www.nzpost.co.nz/tools/youshop/help-with-youshop/prohibited-restricted-items

and used or refurbished are not allowed to be shipped.

To quote

All used electronics with li-ion/rechargeable batteries are not permissible for Air/Sea Freight under the regulations.

The risk of a used phone by air is somewhat remote but by sea is almost as likely as winning the Lotto. Not that sea is an option now.

It used to say something else making refurb fire tablets allowable. Something about manufactures packaging. They have since changed it as they make the rules up as they go along. Looking at the list there is almost nothing that they would ship which is worth getting in the USA now.

I suspect at this rate that  NZ Post will shutdown YouShop USA soon.

They may as well. I wanted to get a postcard sent from the USA, and they said it was too dangerous. I tried getting a marshmellow delivered and they said it was dangerous goods and could blow up the cargo ship.

They just don't seem to care anymore.

I know Youshop no longer offer sea freight but what about other freight forwarding businesses in the U.S.?

I ask because I want to import a tow bar kit that is not available in NZ at the moment and sea freight is the only viable option.

Thanks

Has anyone ever had service from the YouShop customer service? They measured my package wrong which resulted in a 33% higher volumetric weight. I've sent in photos of the actual package and my measurement and had many acknowledgements of the issue but no one ever comes back to me with any kind of resolution, i.e. a refund. Pretty frustrating.

Checked them out and they look pretty price competitive and will send phones. Signed up and will try buying a BT keyboard and having it sent over.

Anyone had any recent YouShop shipments? How long did it take from the US? Sitting at 8 days since departure here and wondering if it's going to make it in time for the weekend

Set you're mind at ease. It won't. Even if it left the us tonight and arrived tomorrow, it'll take at least a couple of days upon arrival to clear customs, then a couple of days for delivery. Next week at the earliest, I'm afraid.

I ran into the same issue a couple years ago, they charged me $50 for shipping a shoe box because of their bs measurements. I did manage to get a refund on the difference between actual & what I was charged.

How?! I've had my case escalated to a CS Manager but I haven't heard back from her in 6 weeks, despite regular follow-ups. I'm not sure what my next action is.

Edit: We're talking about $20-$30 here, so not a massive deal but that's not really the point. There must be so many people affected by similar things that don't do anything about it and if you do they make it close to impossible to resolve.

Beats me. From a time when they were still trying to provide good service maybe?
I took pictures of the box & bag with a measuring tape & sent those back & asked for a refund.. like you have. They initially offered 25% off my next two deliveries, but I insisted on refund of the difference of $20-30 like you.

Can you try doing a credit card charge back for overcharging? Don't know it will work but worth a go.

I'd be claiming because I didn't receive the service ordered.
(You paid for delivery of a large parcel but only received a small parcel.)

I'd rather not, but starting to feel like it's a viable option!
