invisibleman18: Sent ASB a message through internet banking asking about that phone call and they replied that it was genuine. Hadn't heard of that process before so thought it was weird having a recorded message call me and ask for my ID.
They really have no idea, do they.
Add to my post above the fact that the company in question has no customer services phone number and promises to answer the only method of contacting them (email) in "1-2 business days"....

Give it 6 months for them to train their customers to give their details to a robot, and I have a money-making opportunity for you. All you'll need is a phone and a monotone voice.
Aredwood: A stupid hand rail next to one of the parking spaces at the gym. Despite me and the car next to me parking exactly in the center of our parking spaces. I had to climb in and out through the passenger side. And the drop at the highest point is still less than 1 meter. So that rail isn't needed for safety.
The plants immediately adjacent to end carparks at shops are as bad. I'm going to start carrying a spade and dig the damned plants out soon.

Right up there with ASB implementing a requirement for me to provide ID in order to pay ANY amount of cash into my account "to protect you and your accounts".
I asked them from what they felt that rule would protect me, but no one knew...
They're claiming it is some new anti-money laundering requirement.
But it's not - the recent change only applies to cash deposits over $10k.

Hi everyone, there are upcoming legislation changes that will require us to alter the way we receive some deposits from customers - these changes will need to be fully implemented by all banks next year. The changes are complex so we have made the decision to introduce them sooner rather than later to make sure our branch teams have plenty of time to help our customers use the alternative deposit options. Please let us know if you’d like someone to contact you to discuss this further and see what deposit options may be available to you to minimise your concerns around time it will take you to do your banking. Thanks for all the feedback! ^SM

Sorry for the slow reply - yes that is a legit call from us. If you are unsure, you can call the team direct on 0800 27 27 28 or email them creditsolutionsmail@asb.co.nz. Thanks

Can you please provide feedback to whoever made this decision that it is a terrible one and if anyone really does give data to a cold calling robot from a blocked number that they are clearly not very security minded?

1) I want to know which account any Ping balance will be paid to. However, the account shown has only the branch details visible not the account number - the actual account number is starred out. We have 8 accounts at that branch, so I have no idea which one the money will go to...!
2) The fact that they consider "3-5 days" to be an appropriate time line for responding to an email enquiry about same.

Warning: Rant incoming
I decided it was about time for my bi-annual "see whether Linux is any good yet". I tried the latest version of Mint (which I'd never tried before) and wasn't impressed.
At this point I just gave up. It seems that Linux, or at least Mint, still isn't very good...

It isn't small to me but i thought i'd post anyway
People using disabled carparks , and having the approved window tag .
But they get and only them get out of their car and walk a significant distance (i pushed myself in my wheelchair) to the public toilets .
Then skip into the New World store come out with their trolly of groceries and pick them up a few bags in each hand and walk on out the mall to their car like a able bodied person ( i know some people have hidden and unseen ailments but this female was taking the piss)
