A parcel of cables still not here....project on hold.

23 Nov - Shipped in China

26 Nov - Handed over to Airline in China

29 Nov - Arrived in Auckland

08 Dec STILL no further tracking or delivery!

It's taking far longer to get from Auckland to Christchurch than from the supplier in China to New Zealand!

I had a tray and a half of parcels from china arrive yesterday that some were from 4+ weeks ago. All at once. I suspect something backlogged because my usual 1-2 a day became 2 over about 2 weeks for a while. No information tho which is what annoys me.

I have one coming from overseas. If I use the tracking site supplied by the seller then it tells me that delivery failed at 6:30 this morning. If I put the same number into NZ Post's site then it says it's still in transit between Auckland and the local depot. Who knows where it is... although it looks like I'll probably get it on Monday.

Not to mention my loquat tree, which had loads of fruit 2 weeks ago, was completely stripped by last weekend. Not a solitary single fruit left on the tree, or on the ground. Stripped in less that a week.

I think in this case it's a possum, as I've spotted one roaming around on the fence line, and hearing its "cough", and noticing quite deep claw marks on the tree trunk.

And possibly rats, as the tree is quite close to the side of the house, and the rats have tormented my wife and I in the middle of the night by dropping the fruit and letting it roll down the metal roof tiles and into the gutter, and then picking them up, taking them back to the top of the roof, and letting them roll down. Again and again .

Rumble, thunk, rumble, thunk, rumble, thunk, rumble, thunk ..  ... pause .. scritch scratch.. scritch scratch ...pause .... Rumble, thunk, rumble, thunk, rumble, thunk, rumble, thunk , and so on ....

Gonna have to throw some cats up there next loquat - ripening season .... that'll show them, though I'm not too sure who would have the upper hand between a semi-p!ssed off possum, and a cat on a hot tin roof !

Possums would eat most cats for breakfast and spit out the fur. Man they are tough buggers. There was one in our basement and I could hear it scratching around. I flung open the door and while it was startled and probably dazzled by the daylight I gave it an almighty smack on the head with a hockey stick. It just got up, shook its head and scarpered.

They're pretty easy to trap or poison (as are rats) but if you're on the edge of a large reservoir of them (forest or creek respectively) they'll keep coming back.

Rats are easy enough to be rid of.

I tried to buy a Blu-ray from Amazon, which has apparently just gone out-of-print. Amazon had no copies left, but the "other sellers" feature told me that it was available from HMV. I tried to order, through Amazon's site, to be told that it can't be sent to NZ.

So I went to HMV's site and ordered it from there. Happily sent to NZ, and for cheaper than Amazon too. Go figure...

How all the new amazon echo's look like they are made of an old sack or else cheap fake wood, except the silver one which costs more.

Spell checkers that don't.

I use Newton email on my Mac/Android. It leverages off the system spell check (I think) and yet, despite being told to correct when typing, it does not - it just underlines errors in red. Does not even offer suggestions. Just a dumb red line.
