^ ummm. I think you might be missing the point.
The womens teams, age based teams, and physical ability teams are all in place to allow fairness and sportmanship.
Race based teams are not.

you are missing the point, example the Scottish, Welsh have their own teams in the United Kingdom. Teams selected on nationality are present in all sports why should the Maori be singled to have their team being called inappropriate.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Nationality is not race.

We are all New Zealanders, so why not just have a New Zealand team.

aaahh that old colonial policy. Maori should give up their identity, deny their heritage and culture. Sorry but the world has moved on.

I don't believe any race should give up their identity, but you are incorrect in believing the world has moved on.
"most" countries have moved on, but NZ seems to be struggling with the concept.

did you not say that there shouldn't be a Maori team?

Around the World indigenous peoples are gaining greater recognition, self determination etc, however in NZ there are many and I would hope a very small minority are trying to turn back the clock to colonial ignorance.

This is very true. And I don’t see why everybody has got a problem with it. Its a good example.

But at the same time. Whats wrong with a Pakeha only team?

NonprayingMantis:
Maori is not a nationality.

What is it then? Is a nationality not tied to a place? European people for example are from Europe. British people are from Britain. African people are from Africa. Maori people are from New Zealand?

CruciasNZ: I think they should just retire all the racist parties; Mana, Maori and this new one.

A good way forward I think. A solution to all of this nonsense. Swap Waitangi Day for New Zealand Day.

The same could be said about Pakeha that arrive from Britain. Why should they come here to give up their identity?

Maori came here and they never gave up their identity. Would there be anything wrong with allowing Europeans to create a European sports team? Or a European Party? (100% home loans for Europeans only?), Free funded Scholarships for Europeans only? Paid for and supported by Europeans? It does not go down well. Just like the Mana and Maori parties.

Unfortunately our society allows this so called positive discrimination. Look at the following examples:

Gay parade, Maori All Blacks, Maori Party, Womens only Club – All socially acceptable in 2013 New Zealand.

But heaven help you if you support a Hetrosexual parade, a Pakeha All Blacks Team, A Pakeha Party or a Mens only club.

You get labelled a bigot, a racist, or a sexist.

You seem to be all in favor of race based policies if they support Maori but if anyone dares suggest things  for white folks it's called racism.  You can't have it both ways..

Maori is not a nationality.
It is an ethnicity or a race. It is not defined by national boundaries.

ETA: But I dont really care if Maori want to have a NZ Maori team. It's hardly worth arguing over. what is important is government special privileges for poor people where the mana party specifically want to exclude poor pakeha from obtaining those privileges by making them only available to Maori.

why are we even discussing this clown?

there really is nothing to see here with any merit, he has nothing to add, whether it's racist or not is immaterial - it's his opinion + some others on facebook who pushed a "like" button.....big freaking deal

so i suggest we just move along and let him fade out, like we all know he will....

Race is defined by borders, race is outside borders, race is a nationality and race is not a nationality. Race defines a nationality race defines more than a nationality.
