gzt: Home wood burners in practice are not an issue for climate change. I doubt the government or any of the parties in parliament have any concerns about home wood burners from a climate change perspective.

I take it neither are cows and the trucks that drive their milk around the country.

With the US and Canada having shortages of meat and dairy, don't expect any constraints against New Zealand diary farmers, even for destroying rivers and watersheds.

Here's what I don't understand... How gas including water vapour don't escape the earth's gravity and fly away into the ether.

Gas is always escaping. Our atmosphere extends halfway to the moon. Luckily we have a sufficient gravity to keep most of it, and space debris and geologic processes like volcanoes keep adding more.

Mars once had free flowing water, and a denser atmosphere. Now it doesn't, in large part due to a weaker gravity.

Not necessarily. As things heat up, rocks like limestone outgas, which would be bad.

This video talks about it indirectly. Venus has 96% CO2, and 92 denser than Earth, because of outgassing.

It's not impossible that Earth could become like Venus if we get into a positive feedback loop: more CO2 makes things hotter, which causes rocks to release more CO2, repeat until you're Venus

We don't know when it's too late, and hopefully we never will.

Done my share - not having kids. Beats me why no 'solutions' include reducing the population growth, given that there's a high correlation between human population and degradation of the environment. Natural resources are not unlimited.

The government’s official carbon counter, London-based design and engineering consultant Arup, gave a preliminary estimate that COP26 will be responsible for 102,500 tons of carbon dioxide equivalents.

That is twice as much carbon as calculated in association with the previous climate summits in Madrid in 2019 and Paris in 2015, and four times as much as the earlier climate summits in Copenhagen and Durban, South Africa, according to figures compiled by The Washington Post. ...

December. Cold. Ive spent a lot of time there in the southern states Oct/Nov, not so cold, but it can be cold. Further north, colder

Land on the moon in 1969, ignore climate change 52 years later.

I thought taxes were for running Govt, health, infrastructure, the internet, but fast forward, it will go to the building industry. Build, rebuild.

That's correct. The big issue is this time of year, a week from the shortest day in the Northern Hemisphere, Winter. Or go down under, where the bush fires reign in Summer in Australia, bad flooding right now. More heat = more water in the atmosphere and more weather, its a lot more than a quicker tan

From Google "In the United States over 80 deaths and 1,500 injuries are associated with tornadoes each year."

From CNN "More than 100 people are feared dead, including at least 80 in Kentucky, according to state and local officials." (in one day)

I'm unsure if this is a record, but in the non tornado season it's indeed mind blowing. What will it be like "in season"?

Re record "braking", a Formula One car stops at 200+mph in about 80 metres,that's bound to be a record for a 1.6 litre car :-)

7 of those 10 were a LONG time ago, so I wonder what this event would have been ;like in 1840 or 1920, to get a better comparison of deaths, as the buildings that exist, matter.
