covid mate, havent been doing signatures for ages.

For signature required parcels, if courier is not to collect signature due to covid they are not supposed to just dump and run, they are supposed to knock, wait to see if there is an answer, if so then the parcel should be placed on the ground and step back a couple meters for the recipient.  Only then can they mark it as contactless.  If nobody is there, then it should be carded and returned to depot.

If they all just dump-and-run then there is no difference between Signature Required and Not Required and the extra fees paid to them for Signature Required would be fraudulent.

you know that also happened before covid right? you get the odd driver that ignored the signature required bit

All the couriers around my area now take a photo of the item delivered (where it was left) and sign for it on their system.

The contactless process requires a receivers name to be confirmed but that could be taken from the parcel itself. As you said, there are plenty of cases around where people have complained that the signature was nothing close to their own, indicating it most likely was the courier signing on their behalf. The photo process is a good back stop for the courier and their company.

The best protection as a receiver would be to set up to have their signature parcels left somewhere specific unsigned, but as you mention why pay extra for Sig Required. I don't often get the option as a receiver, but if I do then I don't usually bother with it. If it's something I'd be concerned about, I'd get it delivered to an alternate address.

mattwnz: LOL. Maybe that is when they expect you will eventually get it. I got my parcel today after several weeks. But ironically they delivered it without ringing the doorbell or getting a signature even though it was signature required. Instead it was signed contactless. The box could easily have been stolen off my front door step. They failed to apologise or explain the delay. Probably the worst service I have experienced recently from a NZ company. They will be rewarded with me not using them again where I can avoid them.

covid mate, havent been doing signatures for ages.

they don't have time to update you every step of the way or apologise (they would apologise to the sender anyway as that's who they have the contract with). if they did this with every package like yours nothing would get done there.

at the end of the day they deliver 1000's of packages promptly every day without issues, and yours falls into the .0xx% of them, which i know sucks but it does happen from time to time.

PS every courier company has similar stories so it wont leave you with many companies to use to send things

I had another parcel from NZpost where they left a card to calll which said that they required a signature and couldn’t deliver. So I had to go and pick it up at the post shop. Guessing if they took a photo and someone did steal it off the door step they would be 100% liable for costs.
My issue was lack of any communication from them that they had intentionally withheld it, and then no proper explain action or apology for the error

I'm having an issue with a parcel from Aliexpress, signature required.

Re-delivery options are not being applied.... not sure what is going on. First time i've struck this.

Wonder if there is delays in Christchurch at the moment, I have a package that was shipped from Auckland overnight and is still stuck at the depot with no attempted delivery a week later.

Give it a day and then give them a call. Best to flag up after no apparent changes for the week. They'll be able to see if there's anything suspicious on their side.

My boss had quick and efficient service from CourierPost overnight. Package sent yesterday and received today. Pity they accidentally sent it to the return address...

LOL, no wonder it was so quick!

Just a warning that there are is a very convincing scam email pretendinding to be from NZ post, with their new branding. I got one today, and thought it was real initially as I am waiting for a parcel.  It is especially relevant now where there are many people waiting for deliveries, and it is preying on this, saying that a courier has attempted delivery and to click a link to arrange a redelivery time. Then it says there is a charge for redelivery. It also includes dates in it which are up to date and convincing. It is however being sent from an xtra.co.nz address, but people using an ipad/iphone or other mobile device may not see that unless they specially check what the sender email address is.

This happens every time I get something from Mighty Ape. I don't get it. Mighty Ape is in Millwater. Their parcels (I assume) get trucked to the NZ Post Rosedale depot on the Shore. My parcel then gets taken to Highbrook. In East Tamaki. Then it makes its way back over to the North Shore again to be delivered to me in Albany. Which is next door to Rosedale. How is this efficient?!

So here's the journey it takes:

Whyyyyyyyy??

Rosedale isn't their main sorting center, That is all done in highbrook. Cages from mightyape go to highbrook in trucks where they get sorted. They don't have a guy in a van picking things up like small shops do who go back to the depot and manually put it places. They know whats coming because of mightyape providing that to them so its normally straight thru highbrook.

But it didn't go straight to Highbrook. It never does. It went to Rosedale where it spent the day lounging around. They used to have a sorting centre in Link Dr but some genius decided to get rid of it.

On a happier note, when did Courier Post introduce time travel? I ordered something from overseas and got the dispatch notice last night. The package itself arrived four days ago. Very good service there!

Still waiting on ANY update re my AliExpress parcel which supposedly (According to NZPost) left Auckland for Christchurch on 29 April!

Finally fought through their IVR system and got a human who has lodged an enquiry!

Their IVR system would not accept the tracking number but their website does! (It has digits only)

I've re-ordered the items to see if they get here first! (Handy cables)
