joker97: I just have a question -

can science 100% conclusively prove that homo sapiens evolved from primordial soup?

can science 100% conclusively prove that there is no god?

can any scientist explain the existence of matter? in fact the current most accurate explanation of matter is the string theory and can only work if there is at least 10 dimensions (we are only able to prove/explain three or four) ...

these are some questions that in my opinion, show that we may not know everything. we know we evolved somewhere. we know humans can't walk on water and cannot fly. we know that we all die one way or another. that's as much as we know we know ... heck we don't even know how the pyramids or Stonehenge were built (do we?)

Exactly. So what's logical? We don't know therefor god.
Or we don't know lets research the science until we do!

There is not one single shred of logical or scientific data to suggest there is a god.

Just imagine if throughout history every one said "oh its god" and never bothered with the science

Faith is so fundamental to religion that scientifically proving the existence of god/gods/God will kill religion just as emphatically as scientifically disproving the existence.

Now try and reconcile that with your notions of what God actually is.

I don't know why so many "non religious" people are so "religious" in their efforts to disprove the beliefs of others.

I am quite happy for others to have their beliefs, if it makes peoples lives better going to church each week and having faith in their god then all is good and they are free to do so.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Now try and reconcile that with your notions of what God actually is.

You cannot rationally argue-out that which was not rationally argued-in.

It's an emotional debate and as long as people's emotions, personality and world-view are tied up in it, nobody is going to knock anybody off the fence with a sound-byte.

Having said that, it's a debate worth having, IMO. I've changed many of my dearly-held spiritual beliefs over the years and I owe a lot to on-line discussion for that.

I don't think anybody here thinks that science has reached the pinnacle of discovery.

Of course science doesn't know everything, otherwise it would stop.

I don't call myself an atheist because anything convinced me - it's just that I haven't been convinced otherwise.
This is not a position of faith, as you mentioned earlier.

Funny; that's not what I believe and I'm pretty sure most atheists I know don't believe either.
That quote is also woefully ignorant of the mechanisms involved in theory of evolution by natural selection.
