Ok, just returned from watching Suffragette at Kapiti's Downtown Cinema at Coastlands. My first and last visit to the complex.

It wasn't their refusal to offer allocated seating - many cinemas do this nowadays, but it's sheer laziness on the cinema's part. And we punters pay good money.

It wasn't the deep bass penetrating constantly from the adjourning cinema's screening of (I'm picking) Star Wars.

No, it was the absolute crap resolution - particularly noticeable with the credits where I could actually count the pixels on screen. It was like a return to the days of 720p home projectors of old.

Last week I went to the new Reading Cinema at Lynn Mall in New Lynn, and the experience was top notch - huge leather seats, no sound bleed and, most importantly, cinema quality resolution. And for less money.

Rant over.
