Microsoft have done it again, dished up another pageful of porn to open up on my desktop and seer my eyeballs with things I don't want to see. Seriously Microsoft, I didn't sign up for the latest and greatest operating system (sic) in order to have porn shoved down my throat almost every day.

Is it a virus causing porn on my desktop? No.

Is it a set of pages i have visited pushing porn on my desktop? No.

Is it Microsoft Edge behaving as Microsoft has intended it to behave? Yes!!

I carefully changed all the settings in MS Edge to open a set of pages I want to have open when I start that browser. As ME (remember when ME used to stand for a seriously debilitating viral disease and now it stands for a seriously debilitating viral computer disease) is not and never will be my default browser I use it to open pages that I use regularly, jump backwards and forwards to but are not my main internet browsing.

Now, the latest updates (sic) to ME ( remember Microsoft ME? The crappiest operating system they ever put out that wouldn't work correctly, crashed, failed to save settings and made its users lives miserable? - sound familiar? ME vII) has reset all the settings, I'm getting stupid pages telling me I can:

  • view, edit and save (and that's BS as the ability to save is removed)
  • starts with My News Feed(sic   - it's click bait and porn and gossip and wont even print, little less save)
  • and feeding me porn and gossip and click bait

Porn?   Yup. I consider photos of half dressed women flashing their bits and pieces and parading around in their under wear or less porn. I consider up-skirt shots of celebrities getting out of their cars porn, I consider cropped half naked pictures and salacious imagery of ever more scantily clad / bikini-ed,  fashion manikins,  porn. When I was young, images like that only appeared on the front pages of Penthouse and Mayfair and Playboy, were kept on the top shelves of dairy and garages and normally wrapped in paper bags to stop kids being exposed to them.

What is worse than porn is the BS click bait. Brad, met Jen in a hotel room and Angelina is furious. BS!!!!  She wouldn't talk to scum raking magazines like the Womens Weekly and let them in on her closest secrets or personal anguish. She's not that dumb or desperate.

And talking of Women's Weakly - what in hades is it doing being included in something called a news feed. It's not news and it certainly doesn't feed the soul, quite the opposite. It's the lobotomy of the gossiping masses. Trivia, rumours, gossip and out right lies told my donkey holes with nothing better to do than perv on other people for a living.

Here's the thing (to coin a modern phrase) Microsoft. My kids use these computers. my kids are young and still impressionable and innocent ( and long may that last). They don't want to be confronted with graphic violence, sex scandals, suicides, animal killings, foul mouthed hacker rants (seriously - you consider that news?) , Isis beheadings, scare mongering terrorist warnings, and worst of all Hikia Parata's latest stupidity on their screen. Their screen was set to show Diamond Minecraft You Tube Channels, People are awesome videos and those parent dementing humour channels designed for the modern child ( I dont think I can stand hearing a duck looking for grapes, ever again.).

Unfortunately you cannot remove Edge from your system and as I have discovered, you cannot stop MS changing the MS advertising and feeds it shows ( isn't that illegal?  similar to the anti-trust issues they had?)

So Microsoft, if you choose to show explicit materials, violence, gossip and inappropriate advertising to my kids I will take action. My computer, My kids, my way - not yours.

PS   - Minecraft still sucks on windows 10, fails to load, crashes, runs like a dog - but is excellent on windows 7.

PPS - Mint Linux - now being introduced into one school via my help - and they are loving it - their network runs faster too - less crap and 'news' being beamed down all the time.

Interesting - Never used edge, recently went to W10 but just hid the browser shortcut, installed chrome put that on the taskbars. My kids never even looked for Edge, they just went for the easy way out :)

Also have not had any issues with minecraft - are you using the W10 version? Normal mincraft seems fine at our place after the upgrade (no user complaints anyway)

Minecraft no different to when it was on 7 here. Check you have the latest proper graphics driver from nvidia/amd and not the trash ones that windows update serves up installed.

Just take a rest for a few days, the desire normally returns.

Ideal targets, I would say. This is like complaining about burglars targeting old folks. If we're going to have a society of well-behaved, non-confrontational, credulous sheeple, then your kids are the perfect place to start.

Stop ranting. MS don't care about rants. What frightens them is people actually doing it. Think Munich, India, China. Do it.

Your definition of porn differs from the rest of the world.

Personally I am sick of the whole internet not being porn!

I use edge for video playback since it seems to do what firefox and chrome cant do, which is have smooth playback while other browser windows are open on another screen doing stuff, and use IE to watch the DVR since it needs active X. All up many browsers, and none are giving me porn without asking for it :(

agreed, only reason I came to this post, I was hoping for some porn ads being displayed.  Imagine my disappointment.

on a serious note, just use chrome and ublock origin like the rest of us.

1 - edge pops up as default browser when it is explicitly called by the system - which ignores the default browser for some functions.

2 - minecraft - install on a new laptop - i7 8GB ram, Win 10 2GB dedicated graphics and i5 similar spec. Sucked until changed to Win 7.
