I used to cycle regularly as an occasional and enjoyable means of getting around. In recent years a lot less. Increased traffic is a factor, but the biggest factor is the increasing incidence of street harassment.

For the most part teenagers in various forms doing things like emitting sharp yells on driveby in attempts to shock and get a reaction. Also just yelling dumb stuff randomly:

I don't particularly care that this is a kind of a celebrity doing it for similar and dumb entertainment reasons. This is very unpleasant stuff.

Oh good, another topic on which the public will fixate. He is, of course, the first teenager to make a comment that was offensive. Build a bridge already.  I have some spare parts from the bridge I built in case someone is having trouble.

Sorry mate but you miss the point entirely. Yours is a 'boys will be boys' attitude - we've seen a lot of this from the Trump campaign recently. It's really not good enough.

I had to laugh when I read this. It seems unnecessarily personal and a bit over the top. Nevertheless having been on the receiving end of a few of these incidents I can certainly understand the sentiment.

Well I don't really know what to say to that.

He is 21.

Not a teenager by any stretch of the imagination.

Of course the public will have an opinion about this kind of behaviour.

I kind of doubt the public will be fixated on it though. That would be nice. I would really like to see an end to this kind of silly, abusive, and often dangerous behaviour.

Heh. Luckily NZ's political system is fairly resistant to dynasties.

Lets hope not, I think we've had enough of his father in charge. The future will not look good if he can reach the level of power and influence Johnny boy has.

He seems very immature and has probably suffered over the years from an absent father. Probably missed out on some good kick up the bottoms....

I thought the comment itself was well thought out actually.

I have shouted worse at cyclists riding 4 abreast completely blocking the road for other road users going significantly slower than the speed limit, something that is illegal for a car (they have to move over if they are likely to hold up traffic) but the holier than thou cyclists tend to not even dream about letting traffic move around them.

BTW not saying the cyclists were riding inconsiderately.

I see what you did there! Very clever.

But I agree, if anyone out of the public eye have said this would it be news?

Heh, you just beat me to it.

Seems some people just love to get upset over every little thing. I think they are addicted to their righteous indignation!
