Had a chuckle over this. Been keeping tabs on this Goldair wifi fan ever since I saw it was on clearance last week.

Then I go to have a look at the price today to see if it has gone down even more with their PRICE SMASH sale, and....

First time I've seen a clearance item do a reverse. Good fan though. Nice to be able to turn it on with a phone.

Nice to be able to turn it on with a phone.

Because digging out your phone, unlocking it, finding the fan app, waiting for it it to start, and telling the fan to start with it is more entertaining than pressing the "On" button on the fan?

😄 I have mine in the bedroom, so the last thing I want to do when I'm in bed is roll my fatass back out of it just to adjust the fan. Feels good being able to turn it on while I'm reading something on my phone. Then flick on the oscillation, set the timer, and put it on level 10 full blast.

I got one of the dyson ones with a remote when it was heavily discounted. Better than wifi and an app, and it also has a timer on the remote. The only issue is the remote malfunctions if you don't point it directly at the fan.

Noel leeming is known to do this dodgy business.

I've had a few issues like this in the past.

How slow and quiet can these types of fan run? Our heatpump is in the open plan living room/kitchen, off that is the dining area, and formal living room. The heat takes a while to warm up the FLR, I was thinking of a fan like these in the dining area to draw some warmer air in, but don't want noise or fast air

Thanks

We bought a fan that has a remote. Does the job and hell of a lot cheaper than that one, even on special :D

I don't see sufficient evidence presented here to conclude that it is "dodgy business", like a sale price that is no cheaper than the "normal" price.

There are several types of legitimate (i.e. non-dodgy) clearance sale and it is not evident that the sale doesn't have one of these common causes:
* new stock has arrived so clearing old stock
* too much stock so clearing a surplus
* no longer stocking a product
* clearing a one-off shipment e.g. bought from a business closing down
* sale of a manufacturer's/wholesaler's clearance product

Anyway, I'm happy for any price drop. I also use PriceSpy and similar sites to clarify the likely saving over "normal" prices.

Yeah I was quite lucky. I pricematched at Mitre10 using JB Hi-Fis $99 price tag, then used a $50 Mitre10 voucher I got through Cheapies Rewards. Ended up paying $30ish for it.

Cost+ price is showing as $120.46 so it seems that perhaps some new stock arrived, as per an above poster. Seems to be a legit sale, even though it looks a bit odd on the face of it.

They can run pretty slow and is whisper quiet at that level (level 1). It does have somewhat of a humming noise to it though when in oscillation mode (the motor I think). Has taken me a while to get used to it when in bed and the world of Frankton, Hamilton is mostly quiet. Some GZ members discuss the fan noise of this particular model here.

 Some of the comments over at Cheapies might be helpful for you as well. Everyone has a different ear.

Edit* changed 'clicky' to 'hum'.

Moot point about Noel Leeming price matching as here in Morrinsville they closed shop on Sunday.  Surprize to everyone.  I heard  on Friday that they were closing on Sunday but just assumed that they weren't going to open on Sundays any longer.

Went past there last nite and all the signage was gone and the shop empty with a for lease sign on the window.

There was a good, quick discussion about Noel Leeming over at Cheapies the other day. Main point being that NL keep opening up new stores but they seem pretty inactive due to the strength of online shopping.

Just have a power plug with a remote. Leave fan button always on. Remote does 4 adapters so is cheaper option. Works for me
