Oh man, you'd think the world was ending by the way people are going on about it. It's a rugby jersey, people, get some perspective. You're not going to die without one. If you want to complain about something, complain about something important like the price of fresh fruit & vegetables!

nah I'm not complaining at all :)

it's just the way public reacted. there are lot's of things we pay more here then overseas.

however it always good to have a choice to buy somewhere else cheaper. and it's was dump by adidas to ban orders to be delivered here.

Oh yeah, sorry, wasn't saying you specifically were whinging. :-)

Had just been listening to a whole series of callers bitching about it on talkback so my outrage was still fresh.

In my defense, the car is a Jap import and Newstalk ZB is the only thing the radio will receive, so I can only listen if I'm the mood to be outraged.

Agree that the emotions and reactions from the general populace are somewhat over the top, and suitably hyped by the media of course.  People should check their Kiwisave balances at the end of this week, then they'll really have something to whinge about. In saying that $220 - $107 = $113 buys a fair bit of fruit and veg.  (23 yellow capsicums @$4.78 and you'll stil have $3 changeWink)

Did Eric Clapton really think she looked wonderful...or was it after the 15th outfit she tried on and he just wanted to get to the party and get a drink?

Or it was dumb for the media to draw attention to it in the first place, so that adidas felt they needed to enforce whatever distribution deals they have. Otherwise, people would still be happily ordering from various websites.

i thought it was funny how that guy in was selling them for around $125 basically at cost (i think he maybe was making a buck off it) and he was just a small shop, so rebel must have been getting them a lot cheaper than that, say $100 each, and theyre the ones charging $250 for them. so they just seem to be shifting the blame. i think its really good of adidas not telling anyone how much they are selling them to retailers, and protecting their customers from bad press.

so the real question is, how much is rebel getting them for?

but at the end of the day i dont really care, im a nerd and not a rugby fan :P

Dont know who saw the Campbell Live interview between John Campbell and the Adidas Australasian head and the NZ head of marketing last night.
They were a couple dickheads who wouldnt listen.

Basically Campbell was asking them:
1) Do the overseas outlets get the gear cheaper?
2) Why do they cost so much more here.

They banged on about supporting NZ rugby (10s of millions of dollars etc) and passionate about NZ rugby and how much sponsorship they give to NZ rugby. So John Campbell said "Are you saying they cost more here because you need to charge more so that you can support NZ rugby?".

Now as a person who doesnt really give a crap about rugby - I think they should have seized on that. JC said it several times while they just repeated themselves about being passionate about NZ rugby.

So as I saw it.....
1) If you want to support the All Blacks and want to feel that you are helping them - then buy from NZ. Some of that purchase prices goes directly to the ABs
2) If you are just after a cheap All Blacks jersey and dont care if Adidas sponsor sports in this country, then buy from overseas.

To be honest, I would think that *most* potential buyers of an AB jersey would probably be prepared to pay a little more if they thought they were actually directly helping the team whose jersey they wanted so much to wear.

Hi
Was about to order one but noticed there was no 'secure padlock' thingy on the page where I enter credit card details.

I understood if it is not a secure site then if it turns to custard my bank won't refund.

Hope I am not being too paranoid but would rather be safe than sorry.
