In UFF areas I understand Trustpower sell 50/20 rather than 30/10. But to jump up to 100/50, you need to pay them an extra $26 / month for the privilege.

so, the OP is on a 30/10, with a free upgrade to 50/20?

@OP in that case, call yourself lucky :)

No doubt, that's a very good deal (and connection). I can't even get VDSL2 here in suburban Auckland.

I assume the OP is in Tauranga - which is probably the most competitive ISP market in NZ.

Helps when a certain local ISP is selling UFB at cost in order to lock you into their "other services" :)

Its a shame they cant simply disable the voicemail service, as I suspect then you would be happy. It would simply use your answer-machine and that should be it.

Analogue answering machine with a Digital VOIP service. Go on further about how this will work well!

(I am presuming this is a typical ond non DECT answering machine), If not get them to disable voicemail, (i am sure there is a * code you can dial...)

And yes.

Fibre you "Pay" for the speed you want.

Im not sure if you're implying something? Maybe you should come out and say it?
I use orcon 'voip' with analogue answer phone, and it works well.....???

The horrors of people using older Analogue phones and answering machines with VOIP.

All of TrustPowers 30/10 plans have been upgraded to 50/20. So the speed the speed test is giving you is correct.

They can disable their voicemail and other services on request, email the helpdesk and it should get passed to the correct person.

With to 50 gig data plan, I know lots of people who this suits, Don't forget you guys n girls here are not your average home user, while the mum and dad and gran's and pop's around have upgraded from 5gig or 10 gig per month.

Their helpdesk is based in Tauranga and oamaru and the few times I have used it, it has mostly been pretty helpful.

Now - saying all this I DO NOT work for TP, just a happy customer.

As the original poster, I find this all quite interesting. My only real nark is not being able to disable Voicemail without losing the other Smart Services. I was assured by the TP helpdesk that this is the case.
I may call them again and see if I still get the same answer

As to the speed issue, I was not made aware by TP that I am on 50Gb at 50Mbps download and 20Mbps upload. Now that I know, I am quite happy.
Curiously though, sometimes I seem to get 'micro outages' lasting up to several seconds at a time. Has anyone else experienced this on UFB?

Micro-outages: yes. every day or two.
Annoying with IP-monitored home alarm.

Voicemail not lighting up phone visual alert indicator: me too too.
I do want voicemail so now use ISP option to email messages to my smartphone.
