Hey people

I'm looking at moving from East Auckland with internet speeds of 35/10 on VDSL to Pirongia. (near Te Awamutu) I've been reading on these forums that the speeds out there are only about 1-3mbps download outside of peak hours and that the speeds can drop to 0.5mbps at peak hours.  This is quite concerning as fast Internet speeds is something my family relies on.  (1.2TB a month)

I've read about a few solutions such as RBI wireless.  I have done some research but good information seems to be quite scattered so I thought I'd just ask here, hope you guys don't mind sharing some knowledge :)

  • What else is out there apart from RBI?
  • What kind of speeds should I expect from these alternate internet services?
  • What kind of cost is it to install this kinda thing and how much typically is it monthly?
  • Is it possible to get 2 internet lines running to the same address?
  • How is the internet in Te Awamutu? The Chorus network upgrade map seems to say some areas could get as high as 20mbps down?

Any knowledge and information you guys can help me with would be great!
