ekul: True but you can get a 30870ti imported for less than 1000 nzd. Yes they are LHR(light hash rate), hopefully making them less wanted by miners

The LHR only apply to partner cards, not nVidia FE cards. You won't get a partner card for NZ$2,000 much less $1,000 regardless of where it comes from. NZ actually gets pretty good pricing compared to other parts of the world - Europe seems to get shafted the most.

nVidia does not ship internationally so you'd need to have someone overseas buy it for you and ship it. Even then buying an FE is like winning the lottery.

nVidia appears to have let the AIBs off the leash with pricing, with the 3080 Ti buy at over US$2,000 - that's before retail. Sounds completely mental but will find out soon enough if true.

Looks like LHR applies to Nvidia FE cards to:

https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/news/rtx-3080-ti-3070-ti-graphics-cards/

All GeForce RTX 3080 Ti graphics cards will ship with a reduced Ethereum hash rate so they’re less desirable to professional miners.

Nope, nVidia has officially said otherwise. They are just mentioning that on the product page because FE is very much a limited edition / non-existent product.

Wow thats actually disgusting

1200 usd to nzd= 1660
I know its an AIB and shipping, duty etc but nearly 2k more than what you'd pay for an FE if you get one in the USA...

How sad, spose i'm sticking with my 1080ti for a while yet.

$3.5k for the 3080Ti, that's insane. Not saying MightyApe are price gouging, as I don't know what the distributors are charging them, and what the brands are charging the distributors, but someone (or everyone) is making a ridiculous amount of profit off cards. It's worrying if people buy them too, because it says that yes this price can be paid by people. When the shortage finally ends I'm sure the price will come down, but I'd be shocked if it comes down to a little bit over $2k.

(Based the idea that it should be closer to NZD $2k on the Titan cards in the past, which were US$999 MSRP and sold around NZ$1,900 - $2,000)

Yeah the 2080 Ti launched at US$999 but went up to US$1,199, its current price on nVidia's site for the FE.

The chip shortage is not expected to normalize until the next of next year, just in time for RTX 4000 / Lovelace... so I'm guessing nothing will change until that launch.

My guess was 3.7K which looks pretty close, the premium cards like the Strix will probably hit 4K.

Yeah its the stupidest price ever & I'm happy I went cheap this time and got a 3060 for 3D work. The 3080 Ti must be the worst value card ever for GPU rendering... I could get a 2nd 3060 to achieve the same speed as a 3080 Ti, with the same 12GB, and I would still have spent over $1,000 less... amazeballs.

The only way I'd take a 3080ti is if a miner wants to swap one for my 3080 ha!

I Don't believe it, computer lounge has actually got the 3070TI cards in stock, although the price is $300+ more than I originally paid for my 3080..

how can they justify the prices on these?

Retail price on AIB cards in the US start at $599USD (~$832NZD), here they are starting at $1799. i get shipping, i get GST etc but its over double the price.

Someone is making a killing on these.
