A time-poor geek is hardly a geek at all
compost: Impatient guy was impatient to try continuum, first attempt was a mygica which required use of an app which didn't work, returned the next day. Second attempt was a roku streaming stick. Easy setup, has a touch of lag (probably due to wireless) but fine for productivity. The continuum output is slightly larger than my TV screen and I can barely see the taskbar and window title bar, I haven't found any settings in continuum itself to adjust this. I suppose I can adjust the TV settings but does this mean I'm going to be leaving a trail of unhappy owners of reconfigured screens behind me everywhere I go?
Windows Hello has improved significantly after several intensive get-to-know-you sessions. It still takes 3-4 seconds to login which is only fractionally slower than entering a pin, but it FEELS a lot slower because you're not doing anything just staring at the screen.
Windows maps is pretty good given it's trying to be a replacement for maps/drive/transit, but I have to chuckle at its attempts to pronounce NZ street/place names. Here Drive+ never attempted this, a wise design decision I feel.
The only "black screen" I've experienced is creating a reminder using UK cortana and then trying to view it in the calendar. Resolved by killing the app and reopening.
And I guess I should find out what else this roku stick can do...it has a working wp app which is a good start
Philbert: Do we know if Vodafone is going to stock?
And related to that question, is there is any benefit/requirement to get a Vodafone supplied one (or the Australian one available through the NZ Microsoft store) as opposed to getting one from Canada or the US?
I spend a lot of time in North America and the unlocked phone is available from the MS store there at about $300-400 cheaper than through NZ MS store......

Samsung Galaxy Tab S6

ghce: Dual sim was not available via Aus Microsoft nor was the dock part of the package as it is in the US, as far as I know it is an international phone and that it does not support CDMA ( so no worries for NZ).
Just compare the Aus Supplied radio specs to the US ones, from memory there is some odd band in the US that the phone may not support but that is a US issue not an NZ one.

Philbert: Well - bit the bullet and purchased from MS Store Canada. Even with Canadian sales tax it works out about NZ$250 cheaper but more importantly, it has the dual sim feature which will be great as I spend a lot of time out of NZ and will be able to use a local prepay for data instead of having to carry around a mobile hotspot.....I am also going to be overseas for 4-5 months at a time from next year so it will be a lot more convenient to have only one phone to carry around.
If NZ was offering the dual sim model I think I would have paid the extra $250 for peace of mind but they have missed a sale here due to not offering the dual sim variant......

NZ$250 cheaper than what? I don't think the DS is for sale in NZ.
