Having problems enabling tethering - this is on a Telecom Sourced Nokia Lumia 625.  In mobile networks, maximum connection speed is set at 4G but when trying to enable WiFi hotspot, the phone says no connection available?  Internet works fine for emails etc while it's set to 4G....

Changed maximum connection speed to 3G and then tethering works a treat.   Have tested it with 2 other 625 devices in 3G coverage areas and had the same problem.

Just curious to see if this is device specific or WP8 specific...

APN's look good (wap.telecom.co.nz) and the phone is up to date according to the update check on the phone.

Where/What's that?  Been using the WiFi tethering through the settings area.

Thanks Nathan, will try it out tomorrow when one of the guys with a 625 is back in the office.

Just to clarify, I think the APNs aren't the problem but I think the problem is that we are not in a 4G area rather than 4G tethering not working - if that makes sense.

I think if we were in a 4G area then tethering would work fine not dependent on what the maximum connection setting was (either 3G or 4G).

If you're not in 4G then phone should then fall back to 3G?

But you're seeing if you set the max connection to 4G, the phone stays on 3G and the above error message?

So in a non 4G coverage area, when the phone is set to 4G, the internet on the phone works on 3G - great
However tethering doesnt work - it fails and says there is no connection.

Change the max connection speed to 3G, and all of a sudden tethering works.

Eventually there will be more 4G coverage, one would hope you didn't need to keep changing from 4G to 3G to get tethering to work!

definitely try installing or updating the Access Point app and this should resolve itself

As noted above, this was raised before in some other thread. Install the Access Point app and let it configure the Telecom settings.

Thanks guys, the access point update worked a treat once we figured out how to install it!

No matter what we searched for on the phone it wouldn't show up. Then did it via a computer and it wouldn't send it to the phone. But it did send a link to the registered MS account and opening the link from the phone took it to the app on the store - weird!

A few hoops to jump through but think we're there. Thanks again :)
