Semi annoying; raid egg timers are back

1 hour countdown of pending raid at gym, followed by 1 hour to battle

Really annoying; those raid notifications

I prefer to have them back, actually. On more than one occasion, a raid started just as I was approaching the gym - had I known the raid was about to start I may have walked a bit faster or perhaps not walked that way in the first place.

Yeah, a few times I entered a gym and started battling and then got chucked out because a raid started. If I'd know it was about to start then I wouldn't have bothered battling.

No posts here since I have been away, how slack..

Is no one playing or just nothing interesting to say?

While I was away, I had a goal to reach level 40; which I did in 6 days - all those new PokeStops in Tokyo as well as tons and tons of (just generic) Pokemon plus lots of lucky egg evolutions.
Brought back 11 Farfetch'd, best was 65% (Female), while all the Males were below 40%

In Singapore, spinning PokeStops was a challenge - something I had read about where the interaction radius is significantly smaller than the game indicates due to the equator (or something)
Did bring home 10 Corsola's but with only a couple over 60%

Got myself a 98% Raikou yesterday at a raid (critical catch); now to get a few more rare candies in order to get enough candy to power him up

I've pretty much lost interest in this game, reached level 35. I'm not interested in arranging raids with other people, so that side of it (legendarys) I'm not playing. Maybe when gen 3 comes out I'll come back and play a bit more, but right now I've caught all the ones that I can. Trading might let me get the regionals and legendarys that I'm missing. I'm not interested in player vs player.

Still grinding my way up the levels.  Nearly halfway through 36 so still a long way to go.

Been doing the Legendary raids with the awesome Upper Hutt crew.

Equinox event was useful for a good stardust boost and the single triple XP new catch with the Legendary changeover.

Hoping for some useful catches in Oz in March, assuming the same is still going then.

I managed to get about half a million stardust during the equinox event, which was helpful, even though I was too busy to play as much as I would have liked. I’m in Australia at the moment and the Kangaskhan are plentiful but so far all poor IV. I joined a raid chat here and we’ve been able to do one raid. Raikou ran from me but my son got his first one so that was good. I’m hanging out for Gen3 - the game needs new content and they’ve strung the EX raids out for so long now that I’m totally over them already. The methodology used to hand out the beta test passes seems totally arbitrary and in no way rewards those who have contributed most to the game. Someone jon Silph Road said they all raided as a family but the parents got an invite but their kid didn’t, which is just cruel. No doubt unintentional but still a horrible way to do things. I hope something exciting happens soon or the grind will be very arduous.

I am having terrible luck with Raikou - out of 11 raids, only managed to catch 2.

Feels like Lugia all over again, although at least my first Raikou was caught pretty quickly.

I started using Pokemon Go with our foster kids who were keen to play or already played. Each year the age gap increases between us increase so it helps to be able to do they like to do. It has increased my ability to recognise pokemon and join in conversations about them.

But it's NOT MUCH OF A GAME unless you are interested in Pokemon outside the game. As I don't care about getting all the pokemon or having the best pokemon, the only gaming component for me is battling at gyms. I only got into that because a level 30 player stole a gym from me when I was first able to take over a gym.  He waited until it was empty and jumped in ahead of me. He put in a very strong pokemon so I couldn't kick it out without spending over an hour to wear it down. I hope that player is regretting their rude behaviour because it has cost him a lot more effort to play. In the two months I've played I've kicked him out of up to ten gyms a day mostly leaving him with little or no gold. I get the benefit of the extra exercise too.

So the main benefits I've found are getting more exercise by walking further and using the pokestops to go on several sight-seeing tours in towns and cities around NZ.

Just out of interest, would the Pokemon Go players here like to share their usernames? I often see players and wonder if they're local to me or spoofers from overseas. My player name is KiwiMurray.

Mine’s littleheaven70. I play in Glenfield and Bayview too. I’m Mystic L36. I’ve seen you in gyms, KiwiMurray :) There’s a Mystic player called YJPRNN that I used to see in every gym and assume he was a bot or spoofer, and then he joined our raid crew. We were like, “oh, you’re real!”

I love the collecting aspect of the game and trying to get the best Pokémon so I can do raids to collect more Pokémon. It gets me out and active and also makes waiting at places like the doctors far more fun (they’re on a Pokestop). I’ve discovered so many parks I never knew existed. I started playing as something to do with my son that would get us out of the house. Now I’m more into it than him, lol.
