Don't know if I mentioned it; but I recently acquired one of the Go-tcha devices to see how auto capture works
And I gotta say, not having to press the button is quite good - it also seems a lot more stable than the official GoPlus, but also has the same quirks

Took a road trip up to Queenstown on Friday and while up there read about the shiny Duskull; somewhere on my journey I managed to capture one via the Go-tcha, giving me my first shiny Pokemon.

Been using the event to try and get as many Pikachu's as I can - they just don't spawn normally in Dunedin and we haven't had a nest for a long time.
Having issues though getting a Pichu from 2km eggs, every egg hatch from a 2km is trash and I keep on getting 5km eggs (good for Niantic as I have been purchasing too many Great Boxes)

I took my time when it came to evolving Duskull and Shuppet; waiting till I had high level, 82% or better IV male and females - that happened over the weekend
Sableye is a ***** to capture ...

I'm yet to find a shiny ghost-type. After the drama from my son when I got a shiny magikarp a few weeks ago, I really hope he gets one before me! I'm also trying to make some progress towards my Pikachu badge, as they are few and far between here on the North Shore, too. I've hatched two Pichu with hats. Both boys, I think. I'd like one of each gender for my living 'dex, but if not I'll just evolve one to get a decent IV hatted Raichu. I agree, Sableye is a pain in the butt. Also, it has no evolutions for quite some time so I'm not bothering to try for them unless they're big with a good chance of decent IVs. I hatched one the other day.

Sableye doesn't evolve (only Mega Evolves according to various wikis) so no need to hunt for many, however it is a shiny, so I try to intercept any before the GoPlus attempts the capture to see if it is a shiny.

Have passed 3 million stardust, so time to once again power up some of the Pokemon to level 35, or beyond.
Not really needed but .. it gives me something to do

Over the past couple of weeks due to walking and hatches I have managed to once again get over 350 Larvitar candies. I think I may need to find a new buddy soon as my need for more Larvitar candy is almost zero .. as I don't need anymore for battle and the candies I have will take my 3 Level 35s to Level 38

Shiny Shuppet is now available in the game; a slightly lighter shade of blue, so double check them before mass transfering (though I am pretty sure it wont let you mass transfer a shiny)

I've been trying to beat the GoPlus when it comes to Sableye and Duskull to check if they are shiny .. but now with three shinies available, I'll just let the Plus and RNG/luck take its course

(3.2 million stardust now, pretty sure it was only 3 million on Saturday .. I must be collecting a lot of Pokemon at the moment)

Oh, Entei arrived at around 9am today ...

I wish they’d just release all the shinies, to be honest. It’s been quite exciting clicking on the ghost Pokémon to check them. It would make all the boring ones interesting again. I’ve done one Entei raid, and caught it on the first throw, but it wasn’t a particularly good one. Still, there’s a whole month to go!

I did three Entei raids yesterday; caught one that was 80% IV; have a month to try and get that 100% (or 98%)

At least by catching one, I could put a few stored rare candies into it, while I hold the rest on the off chance that I get invited to an EX Raid and manage to catch a Mewtwo (big if!)

As a GoPlus user, I like the gradual release of shinies - in the morning a walk from my car to work takes 10 minutes, while the last few mornings it has taken closer to 30 minutes as I have been manually checking all ghosts "just in case"

LOL, I submitted a ticket to Niantic asking if the nerf to raid spawn times (ending at 7:30pm rather than 9:30pm) was a mistake, and I got the most baffling response.

It said: "I understand your disappointment about the Raid Battle timing. The Raid Battle doesn't have any particular time. So, the daylight saving won't impact Raid Battle. The different Raid Battle happens at different Gym entire day. We’re constantly making improvements to Pokémon GO. I appreciate you for taking time to write this and we will pass this feedback to our team."

For the record, I never mentioned DST in my original email. I replied "Thank you very much for your prompt response. I appreciate it very much, however it leads me to believe that you misunderstood my original email. I wasn’t referring to any one specific raid or gym. My problem is that ALL raids at ALL gyms in New Zealand are finishing for the night two hours earlier than they did last week, making it very hard for working trainers to raid on weekdays. I assumed this time was changed in error. Can you please explain why all raids now stop at 7.30pm instead of the previous time of 9.30pm?"

Their second response: "I appreciate your effort in providing your valuable feedback. Well, you're facing this changes due to Daylight savings, Nevertheless,  you may notice changes to existing features as well as the addition of new features. We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. We'll be sure to pass it along to the team."

So... the change both isn't and is related to DST? I did write back stating that actually, our DST was 7 weeks ago and therefore couldn't be related to this past weekend's change, and in any event, our clocks went forward which would (and did) make the end time later, not earlier. I also said it was okay not to reply again - I figure I'm not going to get a coherent reply out of them!

Well, I'm now on a decent phone again so can take a look at this game again before the kids realize I've got a new phone capable of running the game ;) Am travelling around a bit for the rest of this week, so should be able to "catch 'em all" ;)

So, basically Niantic has no idea how daylight saving works in the southern hemisphere, not do they score very well in reading comprehension.  :-/

That may be the case, but I also suspect they've had their hand forced (maybe by The Pokemon Company?) to change the finish times, and they're feigning stupidity to avoid answering the question. I can't imagine they'd willingly do something that will affect their revenue. I understand a lot of people have stopped raiding during the week because of this. Unless that forces more people to do many raids during the weekend and they have to buy passes for all bar the first raid, whereas if they do one a day after work, they don't need to buy passes. I think I just solved my own question, lol.

Who is excited for the "first" Global Challenge? (technically the second, but we all know how badly the first went)

Yaaayyy....oh, wait.  Timing sucks.  Likely I'll be on the road when the new stuff turns up at the end.  Fingers crossed for a yellow flash followed by the multi-coloured flashing on the Plus.

If we can unlock Farfetch'd then I am very excited! I'm still extremely keen for the 2x XP and 2x stardust as well. Gives us something to do before Gen3 comes out. As someone on Reddit mentioned, we had a 6-hour lure event just before Gen2 dropped, and they extended the 6-hour lures into the first week of Gen2. I wouldn't be surprised to see the majority of Gen3 arrive on December 1. Pretty timely, too, as I just completed my regional Pokedex yesterday, finally catching Unown. Someone in our raid group posted about one on messenger so I ran for it. When I arrived where it was supposed to be, I realised it was in the bush behind someone's house. Some other dude and I ended up sprinting down a long driveway, through someone's back garden, and plunging into the bush. There were no walking tracks and we were crashing through the undergrowth like maniacs. I got it on my account and my son's (I had his phone while he was at school) about 10 seconds before it despawned. Nobody else following me caught it. I ended up sweaty, covered in foliage and cobwebs, and somewhat lost in Birkenhead War Memorial Park, lol. But I am now the happy owner of a Q.
