Alexmkiwi:

The 30th Anniversary DualSense controller is still available from The Warehouse, for those who missed out. (As of this post).

https://www.thewarehouse.co.nz/p/ps5-dualsense-wireless-controller-30th-anniversary-limited-edition/R2958737.html

Thanks also to this as I managed to pick up a standard white controller for $99. I know they often go on sale at this price but do you think anyone had a sale at the exact moment that my OG controller needed to be replaced?

Pro day coming up soon - I have pre-ordered from Mighty Ape. However I really want a Disc Drive to go with it but these have been sold out (worldwide) for weeks. There has been no real info on if/when they would be available again - but indications were late-Nov. I had decided that I would delay buying the Pro until I had a drive to go on it immediately - and if that was next year, so be it.

About once a week I have been checking to see if any NZ retailers are showing drives - but not really expecting anything. Very surprised to see today that Noel Leeming are showing them with availability 3-7 days. Recently the drives were not showing on their website at all. I have ordered for pickup and will be interesting to see if it pans out. Have to say that due to all the uncertainty surrounding availablilty of these drives, I'm very sceptical about NL on this and I'll believe it when I see it.

However, if it does work out, I should have the drive prior to Pro release day and I'll go ahead with the Pro purchase from MA.

A week ago I saw that Amazon US suddenly seemed to have drives available for order now and delivery late-Nov. I very nearly ordered one to have shipped here via NZ Post YouShop - it can't be shipped directly here. It would have been marginally cheaper in total than a local purchase but I chickened-out of this for various reasons - mainly uncertainties about the date.

The lack of a drive in the PS5 Pro is insane to be honest. I could justify the cost of the device at an absolute push, though I'll be surprised if its genuinely value for money over a PS5, but carrying an extra drive around when I travel is just frustrating.

I'm talking about the PS drive that integrates with and becomes part of the console - not a separate or extra drive.

Interesting, I thought it was external. I must admit I decided to skip this generation due to the lack of drive and stupid price increase, so I haven't been paying that much attention. How much is the drive if I may ask?

Noel Leeming.

This is the PS drive that was announced with the PS5 Slim - to convert a non-disc Slim Digital into a drive model. PS5 Pro uses the same drive.

Interesting.  I finally decided to upgrade my PS4 to the PS5 yesterday.  Comparing the prices between the Pro and the existing drive model, I couldn't see anything to justify the double cost so went with an on sale non pro.

The lack of included drive in the Pro was definitely a deal breaker.  About the only potential benefit was the bigger drive, but I can always add an M.2 drive later if I run low on space.

Most of my games are PS4 on disc so those should mostly port across happily.  Added WRC to the purchase so I've at least got something PS5 based to look at.  May even drag the wheel and pedals setup back out of the garage for a bit.

There are likely to be a few PS5s for sale here on GZ, and certainly on Trademe, in about two weeks time.

If I go ahead with the Pro on release day, I will offer my PS5 here on GZ a few days later.

I hadn't even thought of that option.  But a shiny new PS5 should be arriving either today or tomorrow.  :-)

Good spot!

I have just ordered one and it already has a tracking number allocated so looks like it is legit.

My Pro is ordered from JB so hopefully collecting on Thursday morning next week

That does sound encouraging.

In fact now collected and on its way with expected delivery of tomorrow...so unless some kind of wild mixup, seems like they have stock on hand!

Indeed - "in store" check shows a couple of Auckland stores with stock; Newmarket one of them.

As mentioned, I was very dubious about NL on my click-and-collect order so I shot over to NL Newmarket first thing this morning and picked one up. After that they had only one left - and now they’re showing ‘out of stock’. Almost all of the very few NL branches that were showing stock as at yesterday are now showing ‘out’.

Now just need to cancel my original NL order.

No other NZ retailers are showing any stock - or even the ability to order.

Looks like we got lucky - mine is out for delivery now.

Thanks so much for the heads up!
