Ahh so not too big then. In that case I would try with a single Grandstream GWN7610 as a start and remove your other access points. Don't put your NAS on WiFi, Ethernet is the way to go.

So basically just a little bit cheaper then a ubiquiti UniFi UAP-AC-PRO oncve you buy the power adapter (the ubiquiti one comes with it)

Are you renting or do you own, if you rent I can understand not wanting to drill holes however if you own why not do it properly?

Getting the wife tick of approval can be a nightmare trust me i've been there :p

I own.

I won't get approval (unless it is a very, very last resort and it will have to be a professional) since I have already drilled 2 holes a few years ago and things did not work out. So, we have 2 (neat) smallish holes in two rooms.

I like the Orbi and even Google Wifi

the Orbi (and the linksys velop and asus lyra) have three radios so have a dedicated 5ghz backhaul link, the google wifi doesn't have that (it's only got 2 radios)

I'd go with a system with proper backhaul radios (preferably the orbi as it's backhaul is 4 stream wheras the velop & lyra are only 2 stream on backhaul same as the client facing radios)

@Starscream122 Most access points are powered over Ethernet so you just need a single ethernet cable to the point you're putting the access point - it is powered by an injector further down the line (where your switch / router is). For a decent ceiling mounted access point with best bang for the buck I would honestly go for the Grandstream GWN7610 (Here). Just ensure you grab a PoE injector like this one to go with it. I have been very impressed with the Grandstream kit for its price.

Basically with these ones you access them via HTTPS (your web browser), if you have multiple access points on the network they'll talk to one another so you need to only configure one and tell it about the other ones and done. One will cover a moderate sized house totally fine but any bigger than this you may as well get two for the best 5GHz coverage.

I am going to order the Grandstream and Injector from Go Wireless early next week (Will wait to see if there are any specials over this weekend).
