Hello guys

I hope you can help me with this , its all confusing as i am a bit new to this and trying to understand it.

I am using windows vista , and i have just installed a bluetooth adapter, now if i install the software that came with it which is "WIDCOMM BLUETOOTH SOFTWARE" IS THIS REFERED TO AS A BLUETOOTH STACK.

When i use the software , i have more features and i can use a "OPERATIONS AND SETTINGS" page
Where i can few all the files on a device (ie) mobile phone..

Now i have uninstalled the software, and just using the adapter driver to send the odd file or two from my mobile phone, does this mean i am not using a bluetooth stack.

I have also noticed "bluetooth enumerator" in device manager but i dont know what this is

The "Bluetooth stack" is indeed the Bluetooth software. Widows comes with its own Bluetooth software - if you just plug a Bluetooth adapter on your PC Windows will provice basic services.

If you want additional services and more control then you will want to use the software provided with the Bluetooth adapter. In some cases Widcomm, in other cases BlueSoleil.

That is the most simple answer i needed, out of all the forums i have been on.
I have got the most confusing answer's of other people.

Right now if i needed to , toshiba has its own bluetooth stack to download, but now i know what they are
I'll hold off , as i only need to transfer the odd couple of files from my phone.

So the bluetooth enumerator i see in device manager, has this got anything to do with the adapter its self....

THATS GREAT FREITASM

I have been trying for days to get these answer's, and i have just got them in a couple of minutes
Not sure why i carn't get a simple answer over here...

I will be sure to use your forum from now on, there are alot of things you can do with the software
Which will take some learning about, adding bluetooth printers , keyboards etc

So i am sure i might need some help on that..plus other topics

Here's something i forgot to mention.
I have a toshiba laptop, so if i wanted to, could i use the toshiba stack instead of the "WIDCOMM BLUETOOTH SOFTWARE".

I am not sure if you can use this if you have third party hardware (ie) my bluetooth dongle

Some Toshiba laptops come with software for Toshiba's own Bluetooth hardware. If you are not going to use a Toshiba Bluetooth adapter then you should remove it and use either the Windows Bluetooth software or the software that comes with your adapter.

Sorry this is the "microsoft blue tooth enumerator" so does this mean that this is windows vista providing me with some basic services or protocols...and not the adapter
