I've got a bunch of 45W CFL lights, which each have on them "110-130V 50/60Hz". Am wondering what happens if I plug them into NZ electricity, if it is usable?

Would guess the 240 volts makes them go BANG! ...?

PB Tech had a sale on CFL lights so I went and purchased twenty of them.  

What a bad bad bad idea, a total waste of my money, I put them in and they're sooo weak these 22W ones! I really need to find ones to replace the 45W and 60W ones which my softboxes got shipped with.   

Anybody know where  is the best priced place to buy 60W CFLs in Auckland?

There is a very good reason the specifications are printed/etched onto the devices.

 

Plugging these devices into the mains can constitute a wilful act and any damage caused by doing so and will not be covered by insurance.
Personal injuries to third parties can be considered as assault. (Failing to make safe)

 

So if you manage to cause a fire – personal injury etc then the insurance companies are not required to pay out
You may loose any future insurance cover you may wish to have because you have proven yourself to be a risk taker.

Into the rubbish bin with them.

I got some large CFLs off DX or ebay a while back. Now I would be getting them from aliexpress.
