lyonrouge:  pps. if I use our Apple ID to order it, will she be notified (that would spoil the Christmas surprise somewhat)

The order confirmation will be sent to your Apple ID email address so if she's likely to see that before you move/delete it you're right, it would spoil a Christmas prezzie a bit. You could use another email if you have one! Or as its for Christmas you have a few weeks yet, you could wait to see if they come available in stores instead. A bit risky though

lyonrouge: Hi team. What colour would you buy for a woman? I like the black, but I have a habit of buying gifts for my wife that I want, any recommendations?

ps. my wife is Chinese
pps. if I use our Apple ID to order it, will she be notified (that would spoil the Christmas surprise somewhat)

My wife is Chinese also, their culture likes colours. definitely white, not black. She can also get a bumper or blingy case, later if she wants (LET HER GET THAT)

The Apple ID will email the assigned email address, and bill to the creditcard.

Cheers

T

codyc1515:
freitasm:
codyc1515: Also a few things:
  • Apple is yet to confirm which local resellers will have the phone.
  • It has increased the number of mobile operators selling its iPhones overseas, sparking speculation it could do the same here:
    • Telecom declined to comment on whether it would have the device.
    • 2degrees spokesman Michael Bouliane said it did not have immediate plans to offer the iPhone.

I contacted Apple when they sent the release out and posted the reply a couple of pages back. They have not announced mobile operator partners yet, unlike previous years when the release mentioned Vodafone specifically.

For others reading this thread, since codyc1515 made his mind (as per previous posts on this page):

codyc1515:
Teeps: I expect Vodafone (and Telecom if they get it) to require contracts at first, after all theres no incentive for them not to. If you want one without contract at least we can do it direct from Apple right from the start this year.

Well then they just lost a sale, unless someone such as johnr can clarify.

What? Makes no sense. If you want no contract, just go and buy from Apple online. Pre-order now. And usually they are a bit cheaper than the Vodafone price anyway.

Yep, thats what I plan to do.

Teeps:
codyc1515: Yeah, sounds like the best option for me. I will hopefully be ordering it with the Apple Online Store.

Just making these suggestions to hopefully save you some disappointment on Friday if Vodafone so no to outright sales. The sooner you get your order in the sooner you will see it?

Out of interest, which one are you looking at getting?

iPhone 4S White 32GB

OK, just finished talking with johnr via. email and he clarified things up .... a little: "Sorry Cody I can’t speak about specifics as this time, it’s all covered by NDA", understandable but frustrating none the less. Come Friday I will go into the store, see if they have any. If not then I will order it from Apple Online.

You may just be lucky and get if sooner than those of us that preordered. Hope it works out :-)

codyc1515: Lets not forget the recent Carrier Settings pushed to phones on XT recently. I don't see that for any other carrier. This, personally, is it a strong indication that they would be coming to XT.

Just thought I'd give you an update: http://www.telecom-media.co.nz/releases_detail.asp?id=3819&page=index

Nice plans and great subsidies, though I wish there was a $50 or so plan.

I hope they have a lot of stock.

Wonder what VFs plans will be like, their subsidies on handsets are crap compared to these.

Yes, must say they look like a great deal!
So, I was right about Telecom getting the 4S.
Laughing

Must just end up pre-ordering through their website on PrePaid, considering they can give me a delivery date before hand (3-5 days from November 11th). Also, its the normal price with a free SIM!

Telecom guys: Just noticed a bug trying to pre-orer (http://store.telecom.co.nz/mobile/onlinedeal/iphone4s-white-32gb-prepaid).

Ok - the pre-order's isn't quite live. Give it 15 - 20 minutes and it'll be back up.
