Shocking reply from Apple this morning. How could you force people to use a case to compensate for poor design on a premium phone?

Apple needs to get their heads out of the sand and re-design the hardware!

They're not forcing anyone... They have offered a refund. Or you could just not buy one... wait till next year

i hope the actual real life performance in new zealand will not have problems > <
you reckon any of you will be getting the iphone 4, despite the antenna problems?

and i think i agree with some articles saying that its an overblown issue, time will tell i guess

From what I can see the problem isn't experienced by many people. It seems that only a small percentage of people have complained about the problem or been bothered enough to return the phone.
I think they should make people submit a serial number before accepting their comments online (about the iPhone 4) as gospel.

And at the end of the day, don't like it? Don't buy it! :)

The antenna issue became a very big issue, which i think has very minimal negativity. If you think about it, the apple who are actually affected by this antenna problem (only signal drops) is not a big number. From the sites that I came across simply states MANY users without any hard numbers. The media needed to express the negativity of Apple products in order to gain attentions, net traffics and hence revenue from advertisers.

If the actual people affected by this is a very small amount, it does not justify a recall, and i think a free bumper with the phone is the best thing apple can do. Remember, they are NOT forcing you to buy an iPhone 4, and even offer you a full refund within 30 days from purchase.

In other words, if you are really pedantic about carrying the "bumpered" phone, just get yourself an Android or something. I shall stress again, apple is NOT FORCING you to buy the iPhone 4.

Tell that to the Apple fan bois who will bu one even if t couldn't make calls.  The NZ ones will most likely be the US rejects...  The iPhone  would be the last fone I wold buy...

Er i dont think so, why on earth would they do that when we can just return them as well? so all the way from China to USA , oh no crap ones, send them off to NZ.

Not sure there's any reason to suggest they'd find some rejects and send them here. Then we' just return them too, costing apple even more $$

It's possible that the phone will be a US reject, only if you purchased a refurbished one.

At least Apple has come to the senses to offer minimal requirements for full refund.
