So we've got a couple of these adaptors, but no longer have the iPhones they came with (stolen/drowned). Still use them to power other devices, so would quite like them swapped. As we no longer have the phones, I don't have any way of finding the serials. iTunes was not put back on the PC when OS was reinstalled, and the supportprofile site listed earlier does not show any devices (seems to be US and Canada only). Also, we don't have an AASP in town, so can't just walk up to a store to exchange.

What next?

I discussed the situation with their support on the phone, so they put one of them through manually. They actually weren't too sure themselves. I will see how many actually end up turning up.

The plug that came with my 6S, which is affected by the recall, doesn't have a removable duckhead section. It's one unit, about 1/3 the size of the usual 2-piece unit. I wonder what I'll get sent to me? If it's just a duckhead it'll be no good.

As far as we know they aren't, it's only this removable duck head plug adapters.

I've got a ton of these Apple Power adapters, some which aren't really tied to a device. I just went into my Apple Support profile and grabbed the serial numbers from a bunch of devices (some that I don't even have anymore) and have about 9 new duckheads coming my way.

I successfully used the serial numbers from; iPhone 6s, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5, iPhone 4, iPad Air, 12" Retina MacBook, 2010 MBP, 2007 iPod Nano (which didn't even come with a wall adapter??). Strangely though it rejected my AirPort Express S/N despite this actually coming with one of the affected duckheads.

I'm hoping I don't have to go through the hassle of sending back all the affected ones we have lying around.

Of course you have to send them back, it is a recall because they might fall apart and have live parts exposed.

I put the serial number of the iPhone into the site and it offered me a replacement part, so I completed the online form. At this point it was unclear to me which bit they were replacing so I had no reason to question it. If they send me a wrong part I'll just return it.

I've had a look at my confirmation emails and all mine, for the iPads, 2 iPhones (a 5 and a 6S) and several iPod touches read as follows:

Interesting it does not mention the duckhead. I did mine through the website by entering the serial numbers of the devices, do didn't have to specify the replacement part. When I go to the site to review the repair, it doesn't give any part details at all. Will be interesting to see what actually ships. Must put one through for the old 1st Gen iPad I lent to my parents, since the adapter for that died. Maybe it's the duckhead that's the problem with it, but if there's a chance the whole unit will be replaced, that would be helpful. I have to say the whole process has proved pretty painless, so well done Apple for making it as easy as possible.

Does anyone have a link to a full list of products that came with these adaptors?

From the airport express section "What's in the Box" it appears that is comes with a power lead, but no adapter.

I'm still not sure about my late 2011 model macbook pro 13.

That link suggests that I should have a: 60W MagSafe Power Adapter, AC wall plug, and power cord

I'm unable to find a "wall plug" other than the one that is part of the AC power cord, but perhaps there was one once and I should search some more in case it's lurking somewhere.

The thing is that the ipod touch doesn't ship with a power adapter (apart from possibly the 1st gen). So surprised they are considering that a valid device.

It's not I took the charger for my daughters iPod into Yobee but they would not replace it as it did not come with the IPod. (was purchased seperatly). I argued with them that it is a genuine apple charger affected by the recall so is considered dangerous but you you won't replace it that's not cool. I'm left with a dangerous power adapter thanks to Apple.

Now that you mention it, I don't think they did (although I seem to have almost as many adapters as devices so I must have bought some separately at some point). The recall page just said "some iOS and Mac" devices were affected and to enter your serial number to see if that meant you, which I did. I have 4 iPod Touches I put them all in and it accepted every single one.

I'm now up to 11 replacements for the family. 5 iPads, 4 iPod Touches, and 2 iPhones.

Just go to the web page and put in the iPod serial number - I'm sure it'll allow you to request a replacement. Make sure you change the country on the left of the page to New Zealand to bring up the option to replace via web.
