tdgeek: Isn't it easier to just go to Youbee and walk away (in 30 seconds :-). ). With your replaced adapters. I agree with Jase I think it was, why do it online?

I suppose not everyone lives near a Yoobee (or other Apple Authorised Service Provider) or some people (hermits?) simply don't like face-to-face interactions.

Or some may struggle to get to an AASP within their opening hours.

These stores seem to be only in the main centres, and not everyone lives in a main centre, and it is an expensive process to get to one. Apple had to assess where I was, before I qualified for them sending me one. They would have been better to provide to to all apple retailers, so people could go into a Noel leemings or warehouse, and swap it.

I agree with you, it would have been preferable for Resellers like Noel Leeming (who have 70 odd stores throughout the country and sell a ton of Apple gear) to be able to facilitate this for customers. As it stands, all they can do it show people the website and get it done online.

Apple will have taken some of this feedback on though, it hasn't been the best managed process.

Yoobee would not replace one of mine because it was purchased separately and did not come with the iPod. I complained via email and a week later and no response from them. I was going to email Apple to get the official line on this but alas you can't email Apple you have to ring them but I don't have an hour to spare.

What Apple have told us to do, during this rapid exchange process period, is just confirm that the duck head is one that needs to be replaced and then swap it on the spot.

No need to check device serial numbers or get the customer's contact details or anything.

Once the rapid exchange process period is over, in a few weeks we've been told, then any duck head swaps will need to be processed just like a normal repair, so will require all of the customer's contact details, device serial number etc., and will we have to follow our normal Apple repair processes.

I had to give Yoobee serial numbers for each I had 4 in total, but the one for the IPod they rejected. This is despite it being genuine charger affected by the recall, however was purchased seperatly and they would not budge said Apple only replacing ones that came with devices.

Considering Apple put the value of them at 15 cents. I am surprised they wouldn't just sell you one for 10 or 20 cents, to avoid any disruption. Apparently they are a safety risk, so not good form by Youbee, not just to do a swap, no questions asked. Essentially the online form you can now just enter the same device multiple times for a multiple chargers.

Anyone tried to get TNT to pickup using their online form? I tried in the weekend, but still waiting for them to email me back.

I sent them all back, in the clear pocket - think they are for customs.

They don't make it easy to get it back to them. Apparently you can do it online on teh TNT website, but their websites is poor, and it looks like you have to first register, and then they have to manually approve it. Why bother. Or you can phone, but it is closed today, and no automated way to enter the number for pickup. You would think in this day and age, it would be an automated system

I just got three of my four yesterday. I haven't had time to open them. I was wondering what the process was to send them back. I'll just call them.

That's crazy - the old one is potentially faulty regardless if it came with a device or separately. I can't understand their reasoning.

If you put the iPod serial number into the online returns system it should let you do a swap that way. I entered the serial numbers of 4 iPod Touches, none of which shipped with chargers, and got replacements for every single one. Actually, I accidentally entered one twice and got two replacements for that, so my sister swapped that for one of hers.

I applaud Apple for replacing them so quickly but I feel like they could have saved a lot of money, time, and effort if they had just enabled one to input a whole bunch of serial numbers at once and have them all sent out in one bag only. I know my postie would've been thinking wtf. Also I feel pretty guilty because of the environmental impact of all this plastic. No way in hell I'm sending back all the faulty ones to Sydney where they'll just be chucked out anyway. Gotta try find somewhere I can recycle all this unnecessary packaging. Sorry planet!! :/

I've just emailed them the details they need to come and collect them to customerservice.nz@tnt.com , so whether it happens, it is up to them, but they are all sitting outside my front door for pickup. They seem really inefficient, as they didn't ever send me details for logging into send it back, after I spent time filling in their form.. I had to laugh at the Autoreply they sent back, as someone has set it up wrongly.

All the big packaging is recyclable allegedly! or so it says on the packaging i got. unsure about the little bit of plastic the duckhead was in
