So far I have found every app I have ever wanted for the iPhone. Are there any apps you want for the iPhone that are not currently available and what are they?

Since I bought mine I've found a few but I can't remember them all now so I shall add as I remember.

in terms of ones that aren't available on the NZ store ..

there's also another (perhaps similar) one that does speech to text sms - ShoutOut ... but I guess that could be an accent issue!

and i think a couple of others too ...  the thing is, you don't know about them unless you happen to find them on a different site (e.g. appshouter)

ASB banking App
An app that lets me see the raw NMEA from the GPS.
Minecraft app (heh)
Flash
A good sailign app that works as a log and gives you a log for each leg of a trip as well as current naval charts. Best I have found is Motion-X GPS
An app that lets me go into 'night mode' vs 'day mode'. Every night I disable notifications, disable push and turn the brightness down, then reverse the procedure each morning.

A "real" TradeMe app
A MySky remote record app
Video calling via Skype that works over 3G

...Then we're good.

Yes, I have it, it does the charts and current location but does not give you any course or speed information.

You can get a US account quite easily. Sign out of your NZ account in iTunes.

Then go to the US store and buy a free app. Tell them you want to create a new account (you need a US address and another email account).

Someone I know really well used a US hotel address.

You can buy itunes cards for the US store online.

Hope this helps.

Jon?

What happens when you sign back into your NZ account? Will my US account-acquired Dragon Dictation remain on my iPad or get sucked off when I next sync? I'm pretty new to this, but I find the syncing thing pretty scary. More than once I've had my iBooks sucked off my iPad and haven't figured out why. I've got them back again, but i'm never comfortable when doing syncing. I down Dragon Dictate, though.

No you won't lose your Dragon Dictate. I have had a copy acquired by setting up a US store account. You need to log out of the NZ store and into the US store to get any updates that come through for the apps that you get from the US store but they still sync normally and don't disappear.

It does whilst you're moving so I found out!

Thanks for your comments.

I've since come across a nice how-to for this at Iphone World: http://www.iphoneworld.ca/iphone-guides/2009/02/22/how-to-create-a-us-itunes-store-account-from-outside-the-us-without-a-credit-card/

Haven't tried it myself yet, but hope to this weekend.
