Received an update to Google Maps on my Android phone while in Melbourne offering AR assistance.

Tried it out by selecting a destination and then aiming the camera at a recognisable landmark. I used a street sign.

This is what then popped up

Worked pretty well as when I approached a turn a bunch of arrows popped up on the screen indicating which way to turn.

I thought it migbt be rolling out gradually with Australia before NZ but on coming back I also see the AR icon on the maps. Pretty cool,
