nigelj:mattwnz: I think it will be good for Orcons future for sky to buy it, as they are one of the more valuable companies on the stock exchange, so potentially have more money to pump into it. I would prefer sky to buy it than another ISP, which will reduce competition.
Generally, I'm fairly neutral, but if I was forced to give an opinion I'd much sooner a company like 2degrees taking over Orcon than Sky (i.e. the previous rumour/conjecture thread) simply because the no loss-of-competition argument technically still applies and technically to a greater point because it still encourages Sky to play fair with multiple ISPs in a multi-tech/multi-LFC/multi-ISP country (Personally I hate the Com Com more than companies not playing fair in the first place ;)).
There seems to be a lot of cloak and daggers (or media playing connect the dots) on the subject, so I'm ready to hear anything. Although seeing Orcon with Sky style advertising in a year or two would certainly be a bit a shock to the system wouldn't it - especially after the KDC ads.
Yes I would prefer 2D to buy it too, as it will probably make them a stronger company by them being able to offer bundled services like the other two mobile providers.
