duncanblair: Hi guys,

I have just been made aware of the Vector fibre outage that has been affecting customers since 2pm - this will be affecting performance for many of our customers. We have no ETA for the fix at the moment, all I have been told thus far is that people are working on it.

I will update you if and when I hear any more.

Take as long as you want; I'm finally getting some decent speed down here for once.

Vector Network issue

Vector are experencing a network outage that is affecting all our services from the SKY Tower to Wellington.

Affected services include Voice, LLU Broadband, regular Broadband, Rural Internet and some Dialup.

There is no ETA at the moment however Technicians are working this issue. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

No, certainly DON'T take as long as you want. I've been without phones for two days now - unacceptable!

Yeah I'm in Auckland CBD my LLU Broadband has been down completely since early this afternoon, just using my Vodem for now, bugger! :(

So... after a whole 5 working days of they have done nothing but cross thier fingers and hope for the best... I just got this reply from Orcon support.

Thanks for your email. At this point we do not have an ETA for additional bandwidth to be provisioned.

However, this is our top priority at the moment and it should be very
shortly. Once we have a more certain time this will be noted on our
sytem status page on the website.

If you have been without phones for 2 days its clearly not related to this outage!!

I did not know there was a major outage till I read this, YAY for 3G broadband!!!

Well, lets put it this way, I've already told them I"m refusing to pay for last months internet. I'll sooner declare bankruptcy than for them to get a single damn cent out of me.

Maybe the Orcon management need to realise that we as customers pay for a service and we bloody well expect that the service is delivered. If that service isn't delivered - I ain't paying.

Yea exactly.

Well like you I am also moving from Orcon but im off to Slingshot, as they have data caps i can afford ($10 for 5GB is going get me bankrupt if I stay with Orcon).

There are more constructive and less 'dangerous' of lodging complaints/protesting than simply refusing to pay your bill and having baycorp turn up on your doorstep.

My suggestion to everyone who still hasn't found a resolution to look at these guys. They do say that you do have to make a complaint first, but I suggest having a look anyway.

They can can try to extract the money out of me. I have very limited funds as it is as a student, and being screwed over by Orcon is hardly going to do wonders for their PR.

The thing is that they don't have to be successful in extracting the funds from you. If you don't pay your bills, your credit record may be updated to reflect that.

It may not seem much now, but just wait until you try getting credit cards or a home loan... hence the warning - be careful if you decide to refuse to pay your bill.
