Yes, they've clearly told me in emails that they do, which is fine within reason, all isp's do.
But that isn't the issue that several - at least - of us have been having on Sept 15th, and again on Oct 1st, 2nd, and again today. It's a complete and sudden slowdown of all downstream data, both international and domestic, and irregardless of whether it's http traffic or otherwise. I have graphs that show the sudden cutoff in speed and the just as sudden resumption of service as usual several hours later on each of those days. It has yet to resume normal speed again today, but I trust it will, probably at about 10-11pm tonight.

And we're back to normal service again, as of some time after 8pm this evening.

No. Video is near the top of the list.

We only deprioritise P2P, which isn't found in the PeerApp caching system.

Youtube infact comes from google caches located in our network, so there should be no reason why you can't get linerate videos (assuming they are in the google cache).

Youtube, in fact any streaming video, is an absolute disaster with Orcon. It used to be good, like 18 months ago. It is abysmal, unless you watch it outside of peak hours - and even then it is barely acceptable.

I concur with the YouTube issue.

My Orcon internet has not been too bad in recent weeks...but YouTube is a joke. Even at 320p or 480p.

Those inside cache are fine, loads up at 1MB/s easily, but those outside the cache aren't so lucky, basically unstreamable...if there's such a word.

sorry to hear that, i did belong with orcon, but now with slingshot and download speeds of 200mb - 400mb, maybe you could use this opportunity to jump out of a contract, its a window

After being cut off by Orcon, I am now using a 3.6Mbit limited Vodem from Vodafone for my internet during the week. While not a replacement for real speeed, at least my night time surfing has me feeling like I am not using dialup or a 256kbs line.

It gets worse Orcons SMTP is currently having a "Massive outage" Word use from there Phone support.

Mail we thought was sent bouncing back left right and center.

They are not getting unreliable during the day ............

I must I must I must get away .

Shocking 3 hours and counting they have had a and I quote a " Massive System Crash " that is affecting all customers .

The signs of this coming have been all over the place.

I would deal with current issues before Bringing on sky.

I imagine it's a side affect of the recent mass outages, even though those seemed to fix the speed issue for the most part... But while most locations are fine I've been getting some horrible latency to certain areas of the US since the outages hit.

Sent an email into support about it too, but last time the same thing happened I didn't get a reply till a day after it was fixed and they never did answer my "What went wrong here?" question either.

Speaking of which, they never did explain the slowdown from the end of last week, but I'll guess that was related to recent outages too since speed seems okay now.

I tend to be pretty patient - I've stayed with Orcon this long - but the frequent issues do make you wonder if the grass really is greener on the other side.

Wow, 3MB! Now that's what I call broadband!

Nevermind that I'm like a couple of meters from the cabinet.

International is utter sh*te again tonight, what's new! Been like this for the past month.

Spend less money on marketing and more money on delivering a service please, thanks Orcon.

First day with Snap, and while not great - I am very happy that I am able to download iTunes 10.01 from Apple and see the speed sit over 50kb/sec (300kb/sec).

All the speedtests I have run so far so me with a download speed that is larger than upload which is also good.

Still early days, but I am so far happy with the move and look forward to how many GB I can download tonight while uncapped

Well here we the 9th of October 2010 and according to speedtest.net from Napier (where I live) to Auckland (orcons servers) I'm get an 55ms ping ok thats really great BUT the DL speed is an flipping ridiculous 1.59Mbps SAY WTF 2 minutes to midnight and I'm getting what was a norm before I was cabnetised and 3.7Kms from the exchange
