Psilan:jjnz1:jjnz1: I rang today to increase my plan from 200/20 to 200/200 and was told the plans had changed.
I am being put onto 200/200 unlimited for $134.00 per month, free 7490 fritzbox (not sure what I am going to with it), 12 month plan, and a static IP.
The $10 discount for being a 2D customer is awesome...Psilan: Hi. Can you answer why there is a connection fee to change plans?
I am not being charged a connection fee. This is confirmed. The only extra fee I am getting charged is a $15 courier fee for the modem.
But you are entering a 12 month contract.
Speaking with the CSR, I asked if I would still be dealing with the existing Snap people and she said of course.
mtvessel: I was told, no you'll have to move onto another plan $69 but will have to sign up for 12 months plus a $99 connection fee.
z2k:mtvessel: I was told, no you'll have to move onto another plan $69 but will have to sign up for 12 months plus a $99 connection fee.
I wonder if you've been given wrong information. If you sign up for 12 months then your connection fee + modem should be fully subsidized.
Also, if you're an existing customer then why do you need to pay a connection fee to change plans?
Maybe give them another call?

Not sure why I have to pay a connection fee to change plans. I understood that if I wasn't an existing customer the fee would be $249.
I don't want to sign up with them for 12 months.
I have to say at this stage I am feeling pretty sour about them and thinking this might be a good time to jump ship.
Just to add to this - this morning my partner has had UFB installed but when the technician went to hook the ONT up to the router he found there wasn't a port into the router he could the connect the ONT to.
Apparently Snap had sent out new routers as a matter of course but now 2Degrees have taken over they have stopped this and they are now using some sort of remote jiggery pokery to allow the connection to go into one of the outlet ports of the router.
Fair enough I can understand if you don't need to have new router this is OK, but is this a sign of things to come with 2Degrees cost cutting in all directions and reducing the quality of service?
I have to say that from observation when companies merge it never is for the benefit of their customers but for their benefit only.

2. Maximum of 30Mbs, I am currently connected at 50Mbs , not going to pay more for slower speeds.

30Mbps is the entry point - can be upgraded to 100/20, 200/20 or 200/200 ($10,$20 or $30/month)

I think you've been given some bad information to base your decisions on...it seems incredibly unlikely based on what Ralph has posted that you'd have to pay a 'connection' fee to move to the new plans (provided that you already had a Fritzbox). Also, there is no *need* for you to move plans - I took a look and I'm still better off on my old plan (which is 'grandfathered' in) than changing in order to get the multiple service discount.

I am on VDSL, fibre is not here for another 2 years
So I am not sure why I would want to degrade my connection and pay more for it.
UncleArthur: vdsl is limited only by your line speed (download), and 10mb/s (upload - limited by Chorus) - your VDSL won't be artificially slowed down.
