Hi all,  a friend and a co-worker has a Netcomm modem from Slingshot..  It's locking up constantly, so I'm recycling a new one for him..  Problem is he doesn't have a clue what his ADSL username and password is...  So I've got into his Netcomm and the adsl username is firstcontact@slingshot.co.nz  which is totally unknown to him...  I'm trying to save him from calling Slingshot as he's not the most tech of guys, but a nice one!

Is that firstcontact email a sort of "set me up" alias?

We think this modem is 2nd hand sent to him form Slingshot, it wasn't well packaged, and is overall very basic...

Thanks,
Craig

All of our supplied modems have that username set in them. Its perfectly normal.

We use Port Authentication so we don't actually look at the username/password.

if the modem is locking up, then best to make contact with the helpdesk as the modem he is using has special firmware which allows it to talk to our management platform.

Without it, the helpdesk are unable to ask the modem for support details to assist him with any issues
