Good evening everyone,

It sounds like we might be getting some stock of the Fritz!Box 7390s in the near future.

We're interested to gauge how much interest there would be from people.

Keep in mind they will be priced higher than the 7340's that we have currently. ( I haven't been given an estimate as of yet )

Please try keep this thread on topic so it doesn't spiral into other subjects.

Looks like it does the same thing as the genius, maybe you guys should have an option rent them out like orcon do? (accept there seems to be no option with orcon)

A Fritz!box is miles ahead both performane and feature wise of a Genius device.

The 7390 is a great device, I picked one up in Oz when I was over there last week.

From what I can see the additional features of the 7390 over 7340 are:

- Simultaneous dual band 2.4/5GHz wifi
- 4x gigabit LAN instead of 2x gigabit LAN
- 512MB storage built in
- ISDN input

I would probably have paid more at the time but given I just got a 7340 a week ago the upgrade is not worth it for me.

I'm very very interested. Actually have two coming across from Aussie right now. Both are going to be in a "trial". One on a work site and one at home (coz everything has to be trialled at home... it's the law)
If these things bring the benefits I am hoping for then I'll be looking for a phase 1 batch of 8 more and then.....
As an aside as part of the process I phoned Snap today (for the first time and seeking some early clarifications of infrastructure etc)... sat on the phone for 20mins waiting for the call to be answered. No luck
Should I try again or move on to other suppliers if you're too busy. ;-0

Just FYI you do need to be aware that a non Telepermitted device (such as an import from Australia) isn't legally allowed to be connected to the Chorus network.

Devices frem Australia won't be Telepermitted. Just because the 7390 has been Telepermitted here doesn't mean an imported 7390 has Telepermit approval - to be legal it requires the PTC number on the device, and stock from Australia doesn't.

They are already telepermited for the Chorus network and have been for some time.

Yip, exactly the hardware and software, but without a PTC compliance code on it the product is being used illegally. I'm not saying you will have issues using this hardware here because there is no difference, however those willing to use a non PTC certified device are breaking Chorus rules and need to be aware of the implications of doing so.

The Fritz!Box range is superb - I would have preferred this model.

I got the 7340 when I changed to VDSL2 a couple of months back. Had to buy an extra switch to bring it up to the 4 ports I needed, so this model would have been my choice.

Not sure I'd be able to afford the upgrade so soon after purchasing my 7340, unless you had a simple way to pass on my near new old one...

I think you need to give that up they are perfectly fine and nobody will care if it didn't have a sticker on it. If Snap are going to offer it then I think we will put this Telepermitting thing to bed.
