100/50
Wired connection

Just after some help I started to get back into gaming and am wanting to stream via Twitch.TV.

Iv got everything set up and running with the right settings but my stream keeps crashing (freezes for a few seconds -10Sec then takes off again.)

Twitch uses servers all over the world and iv tried letting it choose for itself and me setting servers and they all give me the same problems.

(All Twitch.TV Servers)

Question been would this be to do with Orcon or twitch?

I spent a few hours on the phone last night with Orcon and they got me to do "Tracert twitch.TV" and this is what I get (don't know what it all means)

Doing speed tests via software like xsplit (streaming software) let me speed test to any of the twitch servers i get between 200-2000kbps mostly below 1000kbps.

Any thoughts on this or is it just shi**y Orcon.

- you are not being throttled by your ISP due to going over the monthly cap

- If you have done an isolation test as per the link above

Most of the problems with speed are likely to be related to internal wiring issues. Read this discussion to find out more about this. Your ISP is not intentionally slowing you down today (unless you are on a managed plan). Also if this is the school holidays it's likely you will notice slower than usual speed due to more users online.

A master splitter is required for VDSL2 and in most cases will improve speeds on DSL connections. Regular disconnections can be a monitored alarm or a set top box trying to connect. If there's an alarm connected to your line even if you don't have an alarm contract it may still try to connect so it's worth checking.

- Are you receiving a substandard ULL ADSL2+ connection from your ISP?

So, Sam, you are not being shaped, I get the same on my ADSL connection so it isn't a UFB issue, do you have any other similar issues with any other websites at all?

Is your setup standard or have you modified any settings?

We Peer with Twitch.tv in Los Angles over the Any2 - LA Peering infrastructure. There is ample bandwidth into Twitch.

Make sure you use one of the LA servers as these should give best performance from the Orcon network.

We dont traffic shape streaming protocols, only P2P traffic is shaped (and not very much at that).

Iv got two Orcon comments and still no help, for all I know is that since Dotcom has come on TV spamming the unlimited plans my connection has turned to sh*t

Just did a test on the LA server like you said and seems better than the last few days but still only getting 2.8Mbps ? And it keeps dipping down to below 1000Kbps =(

5am, I think Sounddude posted a helpful comment recommending you use an LA server as it should give you best performance, and that Orcon peer with Twitch.tv so there is plenty of bandwidth. So no need to be rude to them for trying to help you (regardless of the politics going on in the thread).

Your speed tests seem okay, but it would be good to know what the latency is between you and Twitch.tv's servers....if the latency is high then that could well be the problem.

I personally think it could be your computer causing the issues, rather than Orcon or Twitch...but that's easy tested by using a different computer on your connection.

EDIT: Also 2.8Mbps between you and a server in America is pretty bloody good, regardless of the speed of your own connection you're always going to be limited by the speed of the destination's connection and whether they limit their outgoing speeds.

Thanks for the reply,

Just been testing on the stream system (laptop with gigabit) and desktop and give or take 100Kbps between the two.

The ping is in my first post, That's an app testing ping and jitter to all their servers running from my desktop.

12Mbps to an LA server? If Twitch has a great bandwidth something is going wrong right?

Well its not your plan - no shaping applied
Its not your connection - I get the same
Its not our bandwidth or peering - Soundude confirms enough

To get much further we would need to know whether you are having any other issues as above which might indicate a problem with your equipment, or whether this is the only issue, which indicates some Twitch-specific problem at their end....

Try using Open Broadcasting System and see if that changes anything

Orcon genius, No settings changed at all.

EDIT:
Tested with OBS seems to max at 4000kbps and drops to 1500kbps, still have frame loss.

CPU running at about 40%

And all of these seem to have gone up with the peak time of day?

If only i could get out of this 12 month contract.

lol. In a little over 4 hours and and 14 replies to your thread you have gone from asking for help to woe is me its hopeless i must find a way out.

Perhaps a little hasty, I would talk more with sounddude, fireengine and raise a support case.
